    Simple mistake Boteh drive help

I've checked my other components and all are up to spec. I tested everything else and the only components I could figure would be the 470n film caps in C7. All mine tested slightly high, but still within the 20% tolerance (most tested just below 500... in the 490 range... this seems to be tied...

    Simple mistake Boteh drive help

So a few weeks ago, I finished a Boteh drive (Paisley Drive by Wampler)... It turned out sounding incredible... lots of dynamics and attitude... I absolutely love it. I stumbled across a good deal on a Wampler and decided to pick it up to compare... Mine sounded so much more fat and dynamic...

Can someone demystify “type 1” versus “type 2” DPDT switches for me?

I'm two years late to the party, but I buy the majority of my stuff from Stompbox parts. I was directed there by a friend who builds tons of pedals, and I like that they offer most of what I'm looking for... Plus it's geared specifically towards pedalbuilding, so you don't have to sort through...

    Blue Shoe Gai Pan noise

Its all good. I had a cheap amazon TL072 chip in it (that have worked fine in all my other pedal builds), but just got some quality ones in and swapped it. looked like the feet weren't quite seated in the socket . I tried it last night in a different amp and it doesn't make any noise, but will...

    Blue Shoe Gai Pan noise

Here ya go. I wrapped the +/- as I've seen some do (never really noticed a difference one way or another), all my solder joints are good... My main curiosity is that the "push" and the "gain" knob are both adding forms of gain/boost, and my understanding of the pedal is the "mids" knob does...

    Blue Shoe Gai Pan noise

You know, I've always been curious about that... regarding the paths on the top jack builds... There's really no way to route them in a manner that avoids caps, jfets, etc... It's always going to be running by SOMETHING, and one would expect interference in some way or another...

    Blue Shoe Gai Pan noise

I guess that was for a lack of a better term... more like a "feedback" type sound you'd get running a Hollowbody with too much volume/gain... a low pitched "WOOOOOOO" noise I should have prefaced that I'm using a a strat into a clean Fender Bandmaster amp at bedroom volumes...

    Blue Shoe Gai Pan noise

I certainly will do that, I was more or less asking if anyone had built this pedal and had noise when the gain and the push knob were turned up together... I had that photo already, but to keep below file size I have to take a photo and convert the image... I'll do that in a bit

    Blue Shoe Gai Pan noise

Just finished the Blue Shoe (pg-14) build. Pedal is kinda cool, but I'm still trying to wrap my head around all the ins and outs of dialing in a good tone with it... I've heard from other sources (when referring to the JHS production version) that this pedal can be quite noisy. So far, mine...

So… true bypass is a tone suck on all my pedals? (Audio example included)

Honestly I've played for 25 years and JUST learned this... never really used fuzz at all, and ones I had I never liked... except octavia-style fuzz... now I know why... I had a buffer in front

So… true bypass is a tone suck on all my pedals? (Audio example included)

Buffered bypass pedals can also cause problems. I bought a Germanium Treble Booster from a reputable builder (Blammo! Electronics' Zap Master Treble Booster) and it sounded broken... like "Ice pick of death, speakers gonna blow" broken... Contacted the owner, Dan and he walked me through...

    Acrylic Overdrive bias

Lol, sorry Chuck... It's been a long hot day at work and I had a brain fart. I actually just cracked the pedal open on my bench to check just that... I totally missed the -s on your last message

    Acrylic Overdrive bias

I biased all at 4.5v on the drains (I had seen that information on another thread) It was my first time really messing with trim pots other than a Treble booster from BLAMMO! Electronics I was having trouble with... I have a Walrus Audio Defcon 4, which has directions for adjusting trim pots...

    Acrylic Overdrive bias

Thanks for the info. I'd like to do something to alter what I'm getting, as I find the non-cut setting almost unusable on most of my guitars... It sounds pretty good with the tone cranked into my tele, but mostly I run the bass cut setting and the tone around 9-10... The gain is also pretty...

    XC Phase trimpot

Thanks for the tips. I really wish the bias voltage was included in the build docs. Fortunately I was able to find my answers here, but I'm sorry of a novice/intermediate builder... Had I not joined up here, I would have had no clue what to do or to use on some of these builds... like diodes...
