    Lead Solder OD Clapton Style

Have to chime in on this one (great build, BTW): I built my cousin a Lead Solder over the summer, wanting to get it right, work out any kinks/tweaks, and then built myself one. Finally finished it up about a month ago (I always have multiple projects going at one time) and added the crunch mod...

All Time Most Bestest Favoritest Flanger?

Ibanez FL99 Classic Flange - can do subtle, jet plane or filtered for that vocal, Eric Johnson 'High Landrons'-ish sweep. I'm working on the work-alike from DeadEndFX now.

    Bassman Tonemaster comparison

I LIKE what I've heard (wattage scaling, reverb, effects loop, bass cut), but that price is steep. I'm saying that as a TM Deluxe Reverb owner. Folks like being able to get cranked Bassman tones, though - I'll stick with my pedals for now.

MT-2 / Metal Zone clone PCB

Newer/higher-quality parts? Mods/tweaks on toggle switches? Better bypass? The DS-1 clone I built blows away the two MIT post-1994 ones I've owned. No desire to own a Waza version. I'd love to see what I can do with an MT-2.

MT-2 / Metal Zone clone PCB

    I'd get an MT-2, but I didn't see the first one. (ba-DUM-bump)

    I wantz one!

    HF-2 Blackhat Edition flanger

You should be able to build both a BF-2 and an HF-2 from the HF-2 layout. I like the power filtering, and I was going to build a BF-2 to use for bass (Simon Gallup of The Cure reportedly uses one), but I like the bass on my Zoom multi-fx for flanging now.

    HF-2 Blackhat Edition flanger

Looking at the schematics side-by-side, these are the only differences I can see: HF-2 R10 22K CLOCK TRIM 1MB R46 100K BF-2B R10 39K CLOCK TRIM 470KB R46 330K That said, it's believable, based solely on reviews/feedback from users, that the two circuits are similar; many...

    2SK118Y Replacement?

Sorry I never replied back. Yep, the SK30ATM-Y worked. Still think I got this CE-5 at a steal, considering it's basically a 'time capsule', mint specimen that's dated from July 1994. The chorus works just fine, but the EQ is very subtle and I can see where the 'deep' mod can be desired...

Marshall Guv'nor & Alexander Jubilee: same thing?

Am I missing something or are the Guv'nor and the Alexander Jubilee the same thing? Looking at the PPCB Appetizer schematic and the factory one for the Marshall Guv, they APPEAR to be the same circuit. About the only thing I can tell that's different is the cap across IC pins 1 & 2: it's 100p...

    Questions about graphics

Been using Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop for years for graphics. My whole enclosure process goes something like this: Spray paint the top and relevant side(s) of the enclosure with one coat of white so I can mark holes for drilling - it's easier than trying to see pencil lead on a bare aluminum...

    Boss DS-1 (TA7136P with 1S2473 diodes), and SD-1 (with 1S1588 diodes).

Nice work! I'd still love to know where you guys are getting legit TA7136s. I'm using Sylvania ECG1464s, which (on paper) looks to be pretty much identical. They work great (a little TOO good, in fact), but I'd love to try the real deal just to compare.

    Vero Thermionic with "magic" diodes

LOL - I was just watch/listening-in-background to the extended edit of ROTK earlier today while working on pedals. I've tried BAV99s in my Brown Betty (Dirty Shirley specs) first, and liked them. Then I tried 1S1588s because they sounded great in my DS-1 build. I don't remember much difference...

    Nova Distortion, OG Boss DS-1

I'll post a build report of my 1978 DS-1 build once the enclosure is finished. I socketed the diodes and tried 1N4148s, 1S2473s and 1S1588s. The 1S2473s were the most harsh, and the 1N4148s a bit less so. The 1S1588s were the best fit, IMO. YMMV and YB(uild)MV.

    Fender Deville Mods List

I kinda wish I'd kept my 4x10 DeVille so I could try some of these mods. I had the original version twice. It worked really well with pedals (for the most part), but looking back, I wish it was a bit 'leaner'. Meaning, taking some of the thick, 'Tweedness' out of it.

PedalPCB Brown Betty with voicing switch (Brown Betty/Dirty Sanchez/Thermionic)

Sorry to derail, but what is different about the Brown Betty vs the Dirty Sanchez & Thermionic? I thought the BB was just a layout that could accomodate the DS or the Thermionic (or mixture of both)? i.e. I thought the BB isn't a unique circuit The rotary is a cool idea, though. Love options on...

    Indiana Tweed OD: Toggle Direction?

Quick question: Which direction are the 'Normal' and 'Linked' settings on the Indiana Tweed OD? I'm assuming Normal is UP, Bright is in the middle and Linked is DOWN, but need confirmation for the graphics I'm working on. Thx!

    Aion FX Plexus Overdrive

Just curious: did the OP use J201s, or 2N5457s? I THINK there's a mod somewhere to reduce the gain. It's a great MIAB, if you can get everything sorted out and dialed in.
