Next build: Plexi Drive, Benson Preamp, BSIAB2, other?

Some other popular examples you can try : Zen Drive, great for its singular compression texture. Simulcast, the low gain setting will be perfect for clean boost and transparent light overdrive. EQD Palisades, if you'd like a tube screamer with all the mods and lots of options to dial lots of...

Next build: Plexi Drive, Benson Preamp, BSIAB2, other?

cascaded JFET stages... Blues driver with keeley mods is great. Or maybe a more custom made BD2 with some of B.Wampler suggestions that suit your needs. The original unit can sound fizzy, but modded versions based on keeley or Wampler ideas will easily fix this issue. OD-3 is also based on...

questions about a broken dual pot on a bass.

Good point. I ll do the tracing before trying Robert's suggestion, for safety. And if i really can't unsolder it, i ll try to break open the pot to unsolder each pin one by one. If that still doesn't work, i'll get rid of the pcb and rewire the controls. The other pot reads MN254, i guess a...

questions about a broken dual pot on a bass.

Thanks for your replies. I'm going to look for a replacement. I think it's a B250K and an A250k, it reads B254 and A254. So i guess if i find a dual B250k or a dual A250k, it should be fine, i dont really care about it, i usually set both values at noon. Once i'll get the replacement, i ll...

questions about a broken dual pot on a bass.

a big blob that will cover all 6 pads ? Isn't there a chance that the heat will damage the pcb traces ?

questions about a broken dual pot on a bass.

Removing it. It's tightly soldered with 6 pads. If i try hard, im afraid i will overheat the pcb. An alternative solution would be breaking the dual pot casing and be able to desolder and pull off each pin, but im not sure it's doable ?

questions about a broken dual pot on a bass.

Hello, Something heavy fell on my bass, and the top of the Bright/Volume dual potentiometer is broken. The top is controling the volume. I'm trying to fix it, but it's soldered on a small pcb and it looks like im not going to be able to desolder and replace it. Im thinking about leaving it...

LED lights and charge pump issues... asking here as struggling

If i understand correctly, there's a bad interaction between the pedalboard and the electric environment. I would try to connect the DC7 power supply to an other wall outlet, maybe use an extension cord to be able to access a distant electric outlet ? If the electrical environment is noisy, i...

SOLVED Neurotron (Ring Stinger) sawtooth waveshape : low volume, no modulation.

More than a year later, i finally fixed this build. I suddenly decided to desolder the VCO Shape rotary switch, and resolder it again. Just a random attempt in the blind, hoping for the best... During the process, a soldering eyelet came off the pcb, pad 1, connected to R44. I made a jumper do...

Lectric Dandy Horse - dark sound SOLVED

it's a very long shot but i'd suggest to carefully check all capacitors values, maybe you misread a value on a part somewhere. Could easily also be a bad soldering joint that looks perfect. In that case, i guess you'll need to audioprobe the signal path and see where the treble loss happens.

Lectric Dandy Horse - dark sound SOLVED

I tried my Dandy Horse build with various instruments, like synthetizers, guitars, bass, and never noticed any treble loss, even by itself.

How Did This Happen? - Acid Rain Fuzz

4 holes like that... i'd suggest Aion BD-2 clone with the extra bass control (Aion's Sapphire), or Aion's Meridian compressor, or PPCB Gravitation reverb, or Delyk's Up Down Daddy Octaver (Pearl OC-7 clone). They're all excellent choices in their own category, maybe even among the best possible...

Parenthesis Fuzz Octave Intelligent Relay Bypass Help

In the thread you linked, last post from y2kornfreak says he used the picture in the thread to wire his relay bypass, and it worked. "hey i just wanted to let you know that i was having trouble looking for info on how to use the intelligent relay system with the parentheses pedal, until i used...

you can also check the name of the member who did the relay bypass on his build and ping him with @. Just type @ then the first letters of his name, and click on his name in the list that will pop up.

How Did This Happen? - Acid Rain Fuzz

I guess you could also have wired your pots, to be able to get the pcb away from the DC powerjack, and keep your first enclosure ? with pots connected with wires, the pcb would be less stable, but you can use some piece of foam, plastic or cardboard to keep it steady in the closed enclosure.

Help for Aion FX Nucleus (Colorsound Power Boost)

If you're sure about the pinout, it could be a bad soldering joint on Q1 or one of the components connected to it. Did you try to reflow the soldering pads in the aera ? You can also do some continuity tests, touching the transistors legs and the leg of the next component in the circuit...

Help for Aion FX Nucleus (Colorsound Power Boost)

If you need to audioprobe the circuit to narrow down the issue's location, here is the signal path. In red is the main path, in green are alternate paths to check if the signal goes in and comes out of the Drive and Treble controls. If the signal stops somewhere, keep probing to find the exact...

Help for Aion FX Nucleus (Colorsound Power Boost)

are you sure the transistors are correctly oriented ? On schematics, the arrow in the transistor symbol is the Emitter, you can do a continuity test to check if your Emitters are going to the right component, according to schematics. An other way to debugg this, would be to follow the signal...

    Bassdude output level and impedance

I noticed my bassdude in the only circuit that doesn't pair well with a delay i recently built, MXR M118 delay clone from lectric fx. If the Bassdude is in the signal chain, even bypassed, the repeats simply disappear, i don't know why. It's probably related to output voltages and impedance...
