Boutique Pedal Manufacturers Are Feeling the Tariff Pinch

there was also a time when the divide between the asset class, and the have-nots depending on their next paycheck, wasn't so massive. many are not so fortunate to be as insulated against the radical changes and escalating costs as some of us may be. when it gets to a point where these things...

Building for a pedal for tour

i've never understood why anyone would ever want use ribbon cables in a pedal build. (except mass production to save time/money) weak, flimsy, brittle pieces of shit. they're fugly as hell. and then if you lose continuity in a single conductor, you'd have to replace the whole thing. instead of...

Building for a pedal for tour

just solder them direct to the board. they can take it. ⬇️ - use an electronic relay bypass instead of mechanical 3PDT - these bastards can 'mis-switch' when hitting it badly on the fly and then goes into some fucked position where it's neither bypass or active, and just makes a loud hum...

DEMO Spirit Box (EQD Ghost Echo)

well, it is a ghost echo.... so i had to go with a white theme 👻 yeah that makes sense. i guess when you're used to pristine plugins/rack gear, the jankyness of inferior devices is probably not that welcome.

DEMO Spirit Box (EQD Ghost Echo)

thanks man 🤟🏻 i don’t really get the negative experience about belton bricks, yeah its no FV1 or DSP, but still makes a lot of fun and useable sounds, for me at least. maybe i just haven’t done enough FV-1… (still earnestly awaiting the arrival of the -in progress- Dispatch Master PCB)

DEMO Spirit Box (EQD Ghost Echo)

ohh hell yeah cheers 🤙🏻 R4 is 10K per schematic/pcb. fuzzdog doc suggests trying 18K, so i’ve just gone and done that. yep, much better. volume is pretty much at unity.

DEMO Spirit Box (EQD Ghost Echo)

so this reverb/delay circuit features a BTDR-2H belton brick + PT2399, and that sounded like a pretty good time to me, so i had to give it a try. turns out it’s actually a real treat to play. and with only 3-knobs [mix(depth), dwell, pre-delay/attack] it’s one of those things you can just...

SWITCH-CRAFT (got any creative uses of switches?)

idk but while trying to figure what this switch circuit is supposed to be doing, all i can hear is this song brilliant switching design tho, i'm definitely gonna have to come back here for it.

DEMO effectslayouts Tape Delay (MkI aleph null)

ayy thanks 🤟🏻 ah yeah true, i probably should’ve paid closer attention to that. that noise control is really handy too, cos it’s nice to have it up for cleans, and then turned down for fuzz/distortion.

DEMO effectslayouts Tape Delay (MkI aleph null)

this is probably one of the most unique sounding PT2399 delays i’ve tried. I guess a large part of what makes it stand out is the clever filtering design. IME, it allows this scenario where the repeats / oscillation can build up in a subtle way that feels like a nice warm blanket in the...

Son of Ben - mid range

ah yep, specifically i’m referring to how far the gain control is dialled in, as the higher it goes, the less significant the ‘bright cap’ (C4) becomes (and it’s effect is already being attenuated by R7) e.g. at max gain, C4 does absolutely nothing. but also, im just a hack, so i’d also...

Son of Ben - mid range

kinda depends on how much gain you’re using, but i’d try some different values on C4. 1n, or 2n2, might give you the extra mids (upper mids i guess) to cut through a mix. EDIT: i just noticed R7. i’d also try something smaller than 470K, or jumpering that value completely (before altering C4).

    SLO

defintely go for the black eye, i haven’t actually built that one, but i trust the consensus. what i can say is that ive built the SLO100 from rosamp (it’s awesome, you really should build an SLO30 kit) and then the SLO pedal, and unfortunately for me the pedal was really underwhelming where...

Hi-gain modern fuzz that isn't muddy/has clear note definition?

opamp big muff is pretty clear and defined to me vs. other big muffs. doesn't seem to blow out as hard as the others, has a tighter low end and stays relatively crispy. https://www.pedalpcb.com/product/dreamfuzz/

hey, everybody, I'm a stupid moron with an ugly face and a big butt, and my butt smells, and I like to kiss my own butt

a used 6505/6505+/6534+ will make your pants sufficiently tight and not for a lot of money if you can be patient. @Asdrael is objectively wrong 😜 those amps are fucking incredible and sadly the 6505MH sounds nothing like them, and unfortunately is very fizzy. if DIY is a must, and you wanna do...
