TUTORIAL Why Your Clean Blends Suck ... or "How to (Clean) Blend"

Maybe a better idea is to have the blend set so the clean and dirty signals are evenly mixed at the summing op amp and make the clean side a clean boost that you can increase the gain/volume on before it hits the summing op amp. That would probably make a fine additive clean blend since you're...

TUTORIAL Why Your Clean Blends Suck ... or "How to (Clean) Blend"

I think it would be enough to stop the signal entirely, but I'm not 100% sure. With R12 being 10k, the value of R11 and the Clean pot would have to be 10k to get unity gain through the summing op amp. I'd test it out and probably use a b25k to start off with now that I'm thinking about it. It...

TUTORIAL Why Your Clean Blends Suck ... or "How to (Clean) Blend"

You could just run it go ground instead, throw a cap after lug 2. Probably get some wiper noise if you don't have a cap before the pot: Alternatively you could do it like this (just spitballing the c25k value of the pot).

What is the Vemuram Karen (Kadundra) based on?

I haven't built it, but that Width control on the Karen looks interesting. Since it and the resistor it's hooked up to in series are in parallel with the drive pot, it's controlling the overall gain range. Reminds me of when I was messing with the OCD type circuit on my breadboard and I had an...

TUTORIAL Ionizer 2 - Devi Ever Hyperion 2 Fuzz

Buddy, you've built a bunch of these Devi circuits on your breadboard. Have you ever tried wiring the input pot more conventionally (input to lug 3, lug 2 to the circuit input, lug 1 to ground)? One of the first fuzz pedals I built on vero was a Soda Meiser and it sounded awesome, but that input...

    Stockade gain Mod?

There should be heaps of gain on the B channel. It's got a linear 1meg pot and the resistor to ground that sets the gain with it is 1k. Did you do any mods?

Stuff you wanted to know but were afraid to ask

You don't have to use a polarized cap on that portion of the fuzz face circuit. An unpolarized cap like a polyster film capacitor or ceramic will allow the circuit to function. The thing is using a smaller valued capacitor there will change the sound. It's not about the construction in that...

Stuff you wanted to know but were afraid to ask

I don't know that there is or was a standardized way of specifying which leg is which on a potentiometer on a schematic. If you know how the pot behaves either increasing or decreasing resistance you can figure it out (using legs 1 to 2 increases resistance, using lugs 2 to 3 decreases...

Does anyone know how to add an output cap selector switch to a PCB when the output cap is on the PCB?

It's a little more of a pain, but if you wire it like this all the caps will have a path to ground and it should prevent popping even better

Robert is that trim pot controlling the amount of gain on the midboost/OD-1 section?

Szukalski Blue Sheep: "Great Blues Driver"

I see that it doesn't have the diodes a regular blues driver does. How does it sound in comparison (without the diodes)?

DEMO Cast Iron Overdrive (Lollar Overdrive)

I must have missed this one when you first posted it. It sounds good, but your playing really well too. Lights is probably my favorite Journey song and you nailed it.

Wah Inductors. No hype. Just measurements.

This is a treasure trove of info. I wish I understood more. I got my Shamwah back out tonight to fiddle with it. I had socketed a couple things on the board. I ended up trying to use some values I saw for the Clyde McCoy, but I think one of the things I needed to change wasn't socketed. I used...

    Tayda UV Print Issues

I opened it up in AF2. All three layers are in sidebar and if I click them they open and show the contents inside. They're in the same order as the one UV print I've had made so far.

Kings Hand build - non-standard resistor values

Personally, I would just use a 30k resistor and not think twice about it. 30k1 is 30,100 ohms. A resistor that's labeled 30k can actually measure anywhere from 29,700 to 30,300, if it's got a 1% tolerance like a metal film resistor. There's no way you're going to notice a difference.

    Double Tube Screamer

It might be easier to fit two of the Lovepedal Eternity circuits in. They're clone of the Son of Screamer which is just a screamer with the buffers removed.

    Double Tube Screamer

The tube screamer sound is the combination of the chopped off bass in the clipping section (720hz high pass filter), the clipping section mixing with the clean signal, that signal getting a 720hz low pass filter, then a tone control that can add back high end above 3khz. If you only have the...

What are your favourite blues breaker mods?

If you look on the sidebar under the Common Library there is a pin header that you can use as a solder pad to hook up wires. Here's an example of what I mean too
