This has been helpful for me. I used to drill a tiny pilot hole. But after I started drilling them large enough for the first step in my step bit to fit, I've had better results.

I experienced this. I don’t have a scope, but I took a few passes at the calibration-by-ear process. I told my bass player I could recalibrate it if/when I get an oscilloscope, but he’s very happy with the way it sounds as-is. I love that layout.

I haven’t done this yet, but I have a few ideas that involve two or more PCBs in a 125B. Use long-legged PCB-mount pots for the larger PCB. This gives you more space to add a circuit underneath it. Everything will probably need low-profile electros.
