    1044scpa vs 7662CP vs 7660

Thanks for the contribution @micmac , I didn't know that approach. Seems a great way to keep build costs low ;) Another option is to choose a 7660 model which runs at 10kHz and can be boosted with an external clock. If you already had a MCU in play with a spare pin (controlling a relay for...

This Week on the Breadboard: ENGL Powerball (Bolide) Distortion

Slightly OT, but the sweepable mids on the Core Shaper is really useful and I’ll end up breadboarding it one day for a high gain pedal like this.

Sorry. I’m not sure about other applications, I work in KiCad.

    Sheepylove KiCad library

Honestly, just take someone else's.. But if you want your own, define what your standards are. What size resistors, caps, diodes, etc. Then create the basic set. Everything which is uncommon (like relays, or LDRs) will pop up when you need it. Then you do those.

    1044scpa vs 7662CP vs 7660

You can usually get them for around a buck a piece if you don't mind SMD. The TP7660H is there for $0.30 but it only runs at 10kHz, unless you add an external clock.

This Week on the Breadboard: ENGL Powerball (Bolide) Distortion

Nice! I have a couple of Engl tube amps and they always have this unique tonal signature. Your description of the high end rings true! I didn’t even notice there was a Bolide!

    DEMO Sheepy love/GOTA SOD-1 (boss OD-1)

The 1977 OD-1 came with a quad op amp. Then they swapped for a dual op amp and transistors. I assume for cost..

    1044scpa vs 7662CP vs 7660

The more pressing concern is price. What’s the cheapest option?

    Reverb Preferences

Good reverb is like good rotary. It’s just not gotten there with emulation. Anything digital sounds like multiple delays slapped together. Predictable and boring. Unless you want slap back delay.. Real reverb is going to have complex interactions which differ based on attack and frequency, none...

    Bring out yer Diptrace

With higher gain circuits, I usually do a couple of revisions on the layout because it’s horrible to build a prototype and then find issues. Just my experience of course.

Nice! I’ve been pretty happy with the father of the Beast, the Bee Sting 🐝. Looking forward to this one!

    Sheepy love/GOTA OD-1

Looking awesome as ever Chris. I like to see someone who takes pride in his work. Mine are more "practical". You've really kicked me into the vintage accurate mode. This pedal is the one on all the records you know and love. It is great for stacking (a lot of mid range though). It’s first on...

    DEMO Ragin' Cajun-sheepylove/GotA joint production

I have a plethora of boards which I’ve done since becoming silent since the house love last December. Work’s been a little crazy so I’ve not had time to get them on the forum or available for others. That said, Sheepylove has a plan. Pedal love for all!
