    Acer (Altero Kaede build)

Funny thing is that it's stress relief for the builder too. When I'm doing a new vero/stripboard that don't work right away I've never regretted adopting that practice. gradual wear down on the wiring during debugging has caused me so much frustration haha. Just wanted to say thanks for...

    EL Sunnbeam

I know he's a comedian, and was an actor in Full House, a corny daytime sitcom, but your comment flies over my head! Anyway, I wanted to show how much "sensible" the larger v1 board was. The thoughtvirus of cramming stuff into smaller enclosures... it creates so much pain. I also fixed the...

Oh nice, thanks!! My fix for oscillation was to just skip the last step through the cmos, and I was really satisfied with how it sounded but this looks like a nicer solution!

Box of 100 1T313V Ge Transistors Tested

When you get around to it, I'd love to hear back from you about how they perform noise wise. I'm on the lookout for low hFE (40-50) Ge PNP transistors, my GT313A's are a bit too noisy though.

    EL Sunnbeam

From the build doc: "Note: C1 is notated backwards on the silk screen. Rotate 180° if using a polarized cap."

Very high soldering temperatures and components/boards

Wonder if that 450 C is actually 450. Yihua can be fine, but I think cheap chinese brands usually are a bit off with what temp they show and actually is. I solder at 400 mostly, sometimes 375. I definitely don't struggle for 8-15 seconds to solder a resistor, something is off here. Never...

    PPCB Fumble (spite edition)

Just put together the board (MMBFJ309, and 2MΩ pot). I like it better when I tuned the bias down to 3.5V, you get a wooly fuzz tone of sorts on top of the drive.

Power Supply Questions - Reverse Voltage Over Voltage

I experimented with this yesterday night, and unleashed some magic smoke, but it was due to my breadboarding errors. To me it looks like a 1N5817 schottky diode + 100Ω and a 10V zener diode (i used 1N4740 i think) would do a decent job att protecting the charge pump IC from from 18V input and...

    Harmonic Percolator (with some mods)

First of all, @PedalBuilder, many thanks for your inspirating write up of your exploration of this circuit! I have built a handful Harmonic Percolator-alikes with different variations in the past, but never heard anything close to the low octave effect in the Latent Lemon Hurts pedal demo...

    Hot Tweezers?

Saw a video of the Pace tweezers, really good. That's a whole different ballpark than some cheap chinese product. Re: 63/37; Some stuff gets pretty easy to remove when you flood them with leaded solder. Anyway, Mr SolderFix's channel on youtube has a lot of desoldering tricks that work, but he...

    Hot Tweezers?

I use two soldering irons at once, it's a bit like using hot tweezers This short video shows the benefits of this, linking the video doesn't work, but it can be seen on youtube: This one too, I'm sure there are cases where the tweezers are much better than two individual irons

    Slowing down VIIB rate

Fastest setting sounds rather fast, if the Behringer UV300 reacts the same, but it would be fun to experiment and see.

This seller on AliExpress: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004484042580.html?spm=a2g0o.order_detail.order_detail_item.2.4e7af19cINQs3p I have an older one too that is good but it doesn't measure JFET and has a monochrome screen. I don't know at which Vds that Idss is measured at, it's not...

To measure Idss I use a cheap chinese T7 component tester, this is my setup: It works reliably, but i need press down the transistor against the copper tape to create contact. I use that rubber thingie in the upper right of the picture for that. I've thought about replacing the plate with a...

    Sheik Yerbouti Fuzz "Cheesemonger"

Thanks to your picture I was able to spot real easily something that was wrong with my build, had a 3.3k resistor instead of a 330k and it made the signal very quiet. :) Also, nice build! Zappa is great!
