Some potentiometers have a ground short when tightened

Great info! I've insulated the pots and still run into issues. "A short somewhere else that isn't making contact until the hardware is tightened" makes sense. I have experienced it a couple of times with dual gangs (one reason why I purchased a handful of your potentiometer insulators), but the...

Some potentiometers have a ground short when tightened

I've built around 150 guitar pedals and run into this problem 4 or 5 times. Everything is working fine, so I box it up. It's still working until I tighten down the pots. Suddenly, there is a grounding issue. (The power draw goes way up, the LED won't light up, and there is no sound.) When I...

SOLVED ONLY works with cable plugged into input jack.

Good to know! I've had a couple where the DC cable had to be positioned just so or else there was no connection. On a very happy note, I tested it and found that the pseudo-Lumberg jack was faulty. I replaced it and the pedal fired up right away. Thanks, Robert and everyone else who chimed in!

SOLVED ONLY works with cable plugged into input jack.

Wow! Great advice! Thanks, Robert. I'll check it out and post when I fix it. On a related note, I have purchased genuine Lumberg jacks before, as well as knock-offs through Tayda. Are you saying that the knock-offs are prone to issues? (I guess that shouldn't surprise me.)

SOLVED ONLY works with cable plugged into input jack.

Oddly enough, yes! The cable has to be plugged into something else. (I have a perpetual hum generator on the other end.)

SOLVED ONLY works with cable plugged into input jack.

Yes, but I've tried with and without the washers, and it hasn't made any difference.

SOLVED ONLY works with cable plugged into input jack.

No. It has to have a cable plugged into the input jack also in order to work (1st pedal in 120 builds that I've had that happen with).

SOLVED ONLY works with cable plugged into input jack.

Thanks for replying! It only passes audio when in bypass. When the pedal is "on", it doesn’t light up or pass audio, except for when I plug it into the 1 Spot Cable Tester/CurrentReader. I thought it might be a ground issue, but I can't find any place where that might be occurring. And why...

SOLVED ONLY works with cable plugged into input jack.

P.S.: I'd rather not have to install the 1 Spot Cable Tester/Current Reader on my pedal board just for one pedal! LOL!

SOLVED ONLY works with cable plugged into input jack.

This is a weird one, and I can't find the information I'm looking for anywhere. I built an Oasis (Dunes) pedal. It only turns on when it's plugged into my 1 Spot Current Reader/Cable Tester. I put it on my board, which uses isolated power (Truetone 1 SPOT PRO CS12 12-output Isolated Guitar Pedal...

    Leprechaun - Strange Glitch

I checked and it appears that the "dispersion" pot is soldered well and seems to be working fine, according to the multimeter. Does anybody have any other guesses as to why it resets itself to seemingly random intervals after I get it dialed in? Thanks in advance!

    Awesome! Thanks, Robert!

    Leprechaun - Strange Glitch

Interesting! Thanks for the tip! I'll check the soldering on the "dispersion" pot again and break out the ol' multimeter for the pot itself. Thanks!

    Leprechaun - Strange Glitch

The Leprechaun (EQD Rainbow Machine) is such a weird, extraordinary pedal! I called mine the Frobozz Machine after being inspired by the recent Zorkmid pedal (which is PHENOMENAL, by the way). Unfortunately, my Leprechaun has a WEIRD QUIRK. The dispersion knob function (which affects the lengths...

    Missing Build Docs / Schematics

Hey, everybody! Are there build docs for the Salesman (Lerxt) Overdrive posted somewhere? Or a BOM perhaps? Thanks in advance!

Can you omit the spdt slide switch from the Tommy III

Ha! Cool! I JUST found these and placed an order. LOL! Even if I don't use them on this build, at least I'll have some on hand for other projects. Thanks!
