Klon KTR mods - the JHS "Shamrock" Klonspiracy

I would assume because he liked the clipping characteristics of whatever diode that happens to be but wanted a lower clipping threshold to better match the Ge pair. (I've never tried running multiples in parallel, so I actually don't really know if that would work)

What is your favorite "Big Muff" circuit, and why?

It made for at least one iconic guitar sound:

What is your favorite "Big Muff" circuit, and why?

IIRC it's just a jumbo tone bender in a different box, but the tone is usually in the box.

    Thoughts on non-DIY reverb

    Honestly, a fantastic reverb pedal.

    Thoughts on non-DIY reverb

Also, fwiw, I see more eventide reverbs on touring musicians’ boards than anything else. I saw blonde redhead last week and there were at least 4 H9s on stage, and I think maybe a black hole or something too. Jessy Lanza had 4 or 5 eventide pedals as well. Strymon definitely seems more...

    Thoughts on non-DIY reverb

The 3 algos on the keeley side of the dark world are all extremely nice, clean, hifi reverbs. The ramping functions are legitimately kind of interesting and musical, and the routing functions with the Cooper side are pretty novel. That said, it’s expensive and unless you’re committed to the CB...

    Transistors for Chaos Agent

For low gain NPN, I like 2N3440 - they're usually >100hfe and I can buy them locally. If you can find a good assortment of 2N3903 and test them you should be able to find a grip in the 80-120 range.

    Fun with the Electra

circuit-diagram.org - it's nice for quick stuff like this where you just want to sketch something out and don't care about editing/saving it forever.

Again, this is an overly complicated solution to the problem of volume drop after selectable diodes when you could just turn the volume knob slightly.

    Fun with the Electra

I'll preface this by saying that if it sounds good and you're happy then it's good and don't overthink it. Personally, I would want the clean boost *after* the clipping stage if you're trying to highlight the differences between clipping diodes.

I'm not sure I quite follow what you ended up building - can you draw a schematic or at least a block diagram?

    Fun with the Electra

I think what I would try is replacing the volume pot with a fixed voltage divider, then using a 2-pole rotary switch with one pole selecting diodes, and the other swapping out a resistor in that voltage divider. Add a recovery stage with a volume control after that for global volume. You'd need...

    LND150 SHO variant (LND 'HO)

I ordered a bag of 50 or so from mouser or digikey a while ago - they're about $.60 from there. I believe @Robert is stocking some for the spaceman pultec project too?

Oh, also, I used optical switching for the main ON/OFF which solved the popping there completely. I left the BOOST as normal mechanical switching and there's a small amount of pop there (definitely LED-related), but I'd say it's well within the realm of acceptable.

    LND150 SHO variant (LND 'HO)

I went back to this and tried to hunt down the switch pop, trying to tack extra Rs and Cs into the already nightmare-ish tangle of wiring proved... frustrating... so, I gutted the thing, tweaked the circuit/schematic a bit, laid out the whole thing on a single piece of stripboard, and rebuilt...

    what is this symbol?

Have you watched the effects layout youtube videos on laying out a PCB from a schematic? Might be a helpful place to start. You definitely need to include the connection to ground regardless of from where the supply voltage is coming. Some of this is going to depend on the CAD library you're...
