    Interest: 125B power supply?

Another important sticking point with USB-PD: have you ever soldered a USB-C port onto a board before? That is not a DIY-friendly endeavor. Through-hole versions exist, but they're still not a task for the faint of heart.

    Interest: 125B power supply?

Yeah if I were to build a DIY power supply I would probably start with an IEC AC input (most people have USB-PD supplies lying around, but EVERYEONE has IEC cables lying around) and use a small AC-DC converter. No power transformer/rectifier needed, and something like this would spit out a nice...

    Interest: 125B power supply?

This is an immediate turn-off for me. USB-C is more reliable than micro-USB, but I've still seen too many broken USB-C connectors, and in something that's going to be plugged and unplugged frequently and attached to something I'm going to be stepping on regularly, I wouldn't trust it for...

Boutique Pedal Manufacturers Are Feeling the Tariff Pinch

Yup, that was also my post lol The chinese manufacturers I've been working with have always provided excellent quality in a shorter amount of time and provided excellent customer service as well.

Boutique Pedal Manufacturers Are Feeling the Tariff Pinch

I mean they could very well just be this incompetent, but I could equally see a case for it being malicious greed to line the pockets of few at the expense of many.

Boutique Pedal Manufacturers Are Feeling the Tariff Pinch

Chinese aluminum has a 100% tariff, but it's still cheaper than getting parts machined in the US.

    Odd Tayda Issue

That's not how it works. You need to add the product @jwin615 linked to your cart at the same time as the enclosures, then after the order has been placed you go into the drill service website and assign the drill file you want to use. You don't order the drill service on the drill service...

    Odd Tayda Issue

Did you order the drilling service in the same order as the enclosures? You can't order drilling separate from coated enclosures, it all has to be part of the same order for it to go into the system.

Nobelium - tube bass preamp project

Exactly. It's one of those "the longer you look, the worse it gets" things.

Nobelium - tube bass preamp project

No, Guitar Center has a very reasonable return policy, especially with used gear. I advised him to return the pedal for a refund, which is what he will be doing.

Nobelium - tube bass preamp project

I got an email today from someone who bought a used Nobelium from guitar center and said the XLR wasn't working and asked if I could fix it. I explained that since it's a DIY project there's a possibility I didn't even build it, in which case I would charge for my time and parts. So before we...

    when to use mlcc capacitors

I have several production designs with 2.2uF MLCC in the signal path, never had microphonics. It's anecdotal evidence, but there were literally 700 such units in 2025 alone, so I feel like it's a pretty good anecdote. I will caveat that I use X7R or better dielectric mlcc for stability over...

    when to use mlcc capacitors

I see microphonic ceramic disc (single-layer) caps all the time, but I've literally never seen/heard a microphonic MLCC.

    Wrecking Ball - more gain?

Alright, so a couple things for starters: 1A @ 9V is plenty to get the tubes warmed up and the circuit running testing tubes with a DMM will tell you almost nothing any modifications to the circuit should be done with the power off, so the risk of electric shock will be minimal Regarding...

    Wrecking Ball - more gain?

I'm on my phone right now, but I'll leave a comment here so I can remember to get back to this when I'm in front of a computer and can answer more thoroughly.

Nobelium build done. Thin sounding DI output

If it was working fine for 6 months and the problem started recently, my first suggestion would be to check the tubes. A tube tester is obviously ideal, but if you have other known good tubes you can test or if you have another circuit you can check the tubes in that would obviously also work.

Tungsten Preamp - another weird D.I. thing

This could absolutely be another straight preamp option for guitar and will get you into the bandmaster territory. It doesn't have a speakersim so that would have to be added some other way if you want a more accurate amp sound, but this definitely covers the preamp territory.
