    Surfy Industries Modulation pedals

Hello there! Sorry to bump this old thread, but I've just breadboarded the tremolo circuit corresponding to the latest schematic available and it works!! There are some good sounds in it, but a little too much treble cut for my taste (I have to double check some values in my breadboard before I...

J201 substitute? Oh no, not again...

I love this! Would you mind sharing your spice models for the fets, Temol? I have a lot of 2sk117-gr, so it would be nice to be able to recreate some J201 stages

The BetaBax (or me being too lazy to breadboard a Sunn Beta)

Update: eq is now working, this is getting built

The BetaBax (or me being too lazy to breadboard a Sunn Beta)

That's just how the amp was designed, the inverters are used to generate distortion (similar to a red llama, for example).

The BetaBax (or me being too lazy to breadboard a Sunn Beta)

For some years now, I've enjoyed the sound of the Sunn Beta amps, but the EQ section was always a nightmare for me to create an etchable layout (I like etching my own boards), so now I've finally decided to breadboard a stripped down version to see if it sounds any good. Since I'm already...

    Delegate (Warden) Upgrades

Just finished my latest breadboard project, so timing feels right. I'll probably pester you with questions in the near future

    Delegate (Warden) Upgrades

I know I'm probably wrong here, but I like to avoid charge pumps as much as i can, and run everything on 9V. Any chance this will work ok on 9V?

Wow! That vero looks super clean!

    Blackface preamp emulation

Nice build report, @mybud !! I have built this one with 2n3819 and have found it a bit underwhelming (granted my 2n3819 vary wildly in specs - as do 2n3819 per the datasheet) I subbed in some 2sk304 (somewhat similar in specs to j201) and like it much better. It's still a bit too bright for my...

New JFET by TI - very tightly specced Vgs(off)

In his amazing thread about jfets, Chuck has lectured me briefly about transconductance information in datasheets (https://forum.pedalpcb.com/threads/jfet-biasing-part-1.5177/post-143159): what matters most are Vgs-off and Idss (that you use to calculate the gain of a fet stage). In the...

    Sourcing Capacitors for Clandestine Preamp

I'm guessing he's referring to C1-C5. I'm guessing the board was laid out to accomodate either axial or radial capacitors. There's continuity between the pads closer to each other

    Maestro Fuzztain

You've probably saved me from frying an IC in the breadboard (which is not to say I won't fry others)

    Maestro Fuzztain

Nice, Chuck, thanks for the input! I hadn't noticed the source pins at 4V, if I was to use only one of them (say the one with source on pin 7) as gain control, would it be possible to connect pins 9 and 4 to 0V?

    Maestro Fuzztain

Are you guys (especially Chuck, since I had originally posted it on the Boneyard) familiar with the Maestro Fuzztain? It uses the N-channel mosfets of the 4007 in parallel as a variable resistor in the compressor part, if I understand it correctly. Do you think there is a very solid reason for...

    "Rockerverb" with fets for tubes

Finally had the time to etch it. Will hopefully build it this weekend

Mountain Oyster Ge Boost - Chuck D. Bones Design

First of all, that build looks amazing!! I'm looking forward to hear it in some of your amazing demos If I'm not mistaken (and I could very well be, it's late and I had a couple beers), the rullywow jfet matcher does not provide vgs-off values, but rather the voltage value at which the jfet...
