    What's on the workbench?

I’ve done that, I also have an app etc. I rarely use either anymore though as I’m at the point where I know most common values by sight Now when I use 1% metal films I’m always looking. At it to keep myself honest lol

    What's on the workbench?

I distinctly remember having one of these back when I started that my grandfather gave me. Almost identical except it said “Stackpole Carbon” which was based in my hometown and made resistors :)

    Rocket Sockets

Mine are Crapsman that I got in a set many moons ago, but these Amazon specials are about the same thing: https://a.co/d/h0uVSTE

    Rocket Sockets

I use a “midget wrench” (also sometimes called “ignition wrench”) which is small enough to not have issues with other jacks when tightening the power socket (holding the external portion with no mar pliers). I’ve often wondered if I could sand back the tip of rocket sockets when they wear. I...

Cable for Guitar & Speaker Cabinets

If you were a few thousand miles closer, I’d let you try a Mesa version of the Celestion vintage 30 (apparently Mesa has them custom built, and they do tend to have all the things we like about V3, but without the harsh top), or a Celestion G12-65 - similar to the g12t75, but a touch more...

I also have a EZ Vibe. As for the seasick wobble we think of with a Vibe, it’s close, but the ElectroVibe is much closer. What I did find the EZ vibe does better than some truer Vibes, is turn off the dry signal (vibrato mode), set for med depth and fast speed does one of the better “Leslie...

Random Helpful Gizmos Thread - Share Yours!

Can’t tell you how many cheap entry level Japanese guitars from the 70s and 80s I’ve seen with all of the screws buggered up due to liberal use of Phillips drivers on JIS screws. Too bad I didn’t know about these until now! All these years I blamed it on shoddy hardware and inept “techs”.

DEMO Face Melter (Steel Panther P Melter)

I was also shocked as much as I liked it as well! I play it into a CLEAN Princeton (bedroom volume) for a nice crunch, and then the SLO pedal for the singing lead lines. So I’m essentially using the pedal as channel 2 in a simulated 3 channel setup. I also like the tight crunch out of this a...

Can a pedal blow my power supply?

Very nice! I couldn’t tell, but does the power controller have built in undervoltage cutout? I know 18650 hate being discharged below a certain point Of course if it runs for weeks I could think to charge once a week or so. Just curious

Can a pedal blow my power supply?

Hmm 18650 power. Need to know more! I have a TON of these left over from when I quit smoking 12 years ago- I started vaping as a way to cut out the nicotine, and then eventually quit that after a few years… now I have a handful of 18650s that don’t get used.

What is the shortest delay time you’ve been reliably seen out of a PT2399? I know too low and they overheat or lockup.

    What is this?

I have seen those. Did not know they came with staggered pinout though!

Can a pedal blow my power supply?

May not have been the pedal but the number of pedals? How much power is this new one drawing?’other pedals? Rating of the supply? How old is the supply?

    What is this?

Would be great if it was a trim pot! Would make tuning in (and maintaining) the proper bias of a Phase 90 a lot easier!! lol

    Vintage Amp Negative Feedback Help

I agree that the massive negative feedback was by design. Question is, is it for stability? Or simpler to keep it clean (these weren’t designed for guitar so you’d want run it cleaner for pA/hifi application). A 50k or even 100k linear pot is a great way to tune in the value you like!

    Vintage Amp Negative Feedback Help

See the 2k2 in parallel with the 2n2 capacitor? That’s your nfb resistor, however with the capacitor parallel to it, you are getting more nub of higher frequencies than low, so maybe a first step is trying to simply snip the cap, or put a resistor in series. The 2k2 value is in line with some...
