    International Customers for Q-tune kit

I LOVE the idea of buying one of these tuners. But I'm in Australia, and the kit at US$149 + US$35 shipping is about Aust$280 at the moment - and it will be more with credit card fees, paypal fees whatever. My Peterson mini is now Aust$189 (US$124) at my nearest store, but I usually get a decent...

    Rick Beato interviews David Gilmour

Salutations. Oh yeah, that's pretty bad! What's wrong with "Now fucking listen up, assholes..." Strangely I'm ok with howdy.

    Ha! So I'm not alone!

    Rick Beato interviews David Gilmour

For truly terrible interviewing check out Lee Anderton. He talks over his interviewees, ignores what they say and butts in non-stop. His factory visit videos are truly cringe-worthy. He just ignores the host and keeps looking away and gets things wrong. But at least he's not quite as annoying as...

    Rick Beato interviews David Gilmour

"...a less talented Bonnamassa..." Wow. That's as harsh as I can imagine. I guess Bonnamassa is talented but not in any way I value. That's almost like saying a less talented Miley Cyrus. Probably talented but so irritating that you don't get so far as to appreciate it.

Very high soldering temperatures and components/boards

That's called survivor bias. It's the ones that explode and take the player with them that you never hear about.

    Distortr

What could be simpler? Way to make things hard for yourself! :ROFLMAO: Still, all's well that ends well. I share your liking for short bat switches set deep into the enclosure. I think pcb designers should allow for that. Exposing too much switch thread is a massive faux pas. Indecent really.

This Week on the Breadboard: The Lingonberry OD

Yeah I know they are different opamps but I struggle to hear a difference! I mean obviously the difference is 2000 but it's hard to hear. I do like the Tender Loving Care though. I feel that's the important thing. Plus I have quite a few TLC272s. And I think if vertical components are good...

This Week on the Breadboard: The Lingonberry OD

I feel I should add that Chuck has been incredibly generous with help and knowledge with me in aiding my feeble attempts to find the sounds I want. He may be a stern taskmaster but he is a treasure to this forum. And now I will stop sounding like a sycophant.

This Week on the Breadboard: The Lingonberry OD

I have built this too, from the same trace that Chuck used. This is the Layout I drew up and it works! No mods in this layout. I have also built a version of it with some of my mods. This reduces distortion and sounds good to me - but it's not really a Lingonberry OD any more. The BASS...

    Rick Beato interviews David Gilmour

Every time I listen to the first Pretenders album I am amazed at how good Jimmy Scott was. What a loss. If he had lived who knows how good he might have become? I love that first album and the guitars sounds take me back to 1979, being very much a beginner guitarist trying to work out how...

    Rick Beato interviews David Gilmour

I think there are plenty worse than Beato. He can be annoying sometimes but you can say the same about anyone really. Some episodes are better than others. I get tired of hearing about the same bunch of bands over and over from other youtubers. I really don't need to hear any more about Led Zep...

    Random pix

Just discovered some pics I had taken on my last trip to NYC in I think 2019. My wife was at a conference for a few days in a very hot and humid NYC July. one day I took the Roosevelt Island tramway and took some pics along the way.

    Wire Wars

Tinning wire before making a connection used to annoy me but now I'm so used to it I don't even notice. I think that like a lot of this hobby having a great soldering iron tip makes all the difference in the world. Tinning is only a pain if your soldering iron makes it a pain. The tip does wear...

    Back-lit faceplate tutorial.

I like the hat. Nice touch. I have a hat exactly like that actually! It's a white one I bought in Oakdale California almost 15 years ago and it's still going strong.

Elk Super Fuzz Sustainar (Japanese Big Muff clone)

@PedalBuilder that is a beautiful build! So clean and perfect! And I don't think Sustainar is a spelling error. I see it as an artistic choice. Sure, some artistic choices are unintentional but it's what happens when you are full of art. I like to see it as in the spirit of Gigantor. Gigantor...

    Back-lit faceplate tutorial.

This isn't going to work at all. Where's the garnish? It's all too unprofessional. An Old Fashioned needs a garnish otherwise nobody will take it seriously. Apart from that it's quite clever I suppose.

    Wire Wars

It never occurred the me to try anything other than the regular PVC 24g stuff from Tayda! It works fine for me. Never had a problem with it.
