Compulsive/ generated need buying from Das Musikding: was a mistake?

Oh, my first FV-1 (VHS) arrived from Musikding, and the chip didn't come presoldered; quite unexpected! Anyway, once I tie that thing to the board nothing should surprise me anymore. Flux syringe, truly the blood that feeds the iron.

I am sure Klaus will solve the issue with adapters? He might be better of playing it safe with these components.

Compulsive/ generated need buying from Das Musikding: was a mistake?

Yeah, it's why I am happy to see PedalPCB adds SMD compatibilty to their boards with these now-obscure parts. Though you should try and practice some before doing so on a build, soldering them is quite easy actually... When ordering one of the pedals below at Musikding, Klaus' BOM actually...

Compulsive/ generated need buying from Das Musikding: was a mistake?

9 kits, no mistakes yet. I do measure them, trying to turn this into a habit instead of a hassle. I tend to grab the kits with weird components that I would otherwise need to order from multiple sources. If it's just typical stuff, I buy straight from PedalPCB.

Just a 6000,- rack valve amp. Bonkers! I recently passed the "my most expensive gear" via a 4000,- synth, and am still kinda shaking my head about it... Really not hoping to exceed this, but who knows. Ah well, my relatives could sell it to fund a sober funeral for me. So it's not all bad!

Why is there no PCB yet for this classic?

    Opinions wanted: Good RockBilly overdrive

So, which one did you go for in the end? :) Having no tweed drive yet, I put the Indiana Tweed (Tweed 57) on my wishlist... (Glad my little local J201 source still has stock, as this one needs six). I do remain curious if something else hides beyond my attention... Update: There's the Tweed...

What is your go to DMM

It did clear up why these things sell at such a price, for sure. But the long-windedness of it all, it's such a common way to lengthen content without adding value. In a time where everyone is busy with lots of things all the time, it boggles my mind that straight to the point videos have become...

Christ, I hate contemporary youtube... Two minutes in, and have only heard him saying the same things over and over... Eleven minutes in, and I have barely been listening and moved on with my things here.

Curds and whey distortion added to a better overdrive?

Recognized the op-amp muff in the Downtown being similar toe the Timmy, though it doesn't include the cap for filtering. Would it be as simple as running one parallel with R26? There isn't much to tweak in this fuzz, it seems, but I get what I can to make it a bit more my own. This effect...

Reverb showed me this unit just now. I tend to dislike these pointer knobs (too much detail, I guess?), but in this configuration, their unique shape really shines. <3 Just an inspiration-thingy I thought to drop here!

Bolide, Magentron, and Gravitation in one!

Is the typewriter-esque (the "smoothness" I am seeing here) result typical for saltwater etching? Hadn't heard of this before, and the first images google gives me show the intense depth of the etching, but also a certain level of bluntness?

Hantek 2D72, comes with function generator and oscilloscope. Don't need anything else for this hobby it seems. https://www.amazon.com/Hantek-Oscilloscope-Multimeter-Portable-Multifunction/dp/B07MT3LDB4?th=1

    Resistors in series

I read about the "teepee" method of putting two in series. SMD or otherwise... Is there any best practice to this? I would think a "bridge" (the shape of a staple) formation with two hooks making the initial connection and have the two resistors stand up right, would look best.

Compulsive/ generated need buying from Das Musikding: was a mistake?

I think everyone here knows which bad brand you're talking about here, even without saying its name. 😅

Compulsive/ generated need buying from Das Musikding: was a mistake?

No problems. Excellent service, though a bit slow due to it being a one-man show. Most orders ship after about a week; perhaps he didn't have all parts in stock? Got free transistors alongside an order after I fried two from a previous kit. Import duties are the responsibility of the buyer...

    Solderless PCB Sockets For Testing

Some leads are thick enough that when you fold them over at the tip, and squash them hard with some pliers, they fit snuggly in the pad's hole.
