    2N404 Germanium Transistors from NTE?

Thanks, yes, I had threads both here and on DIYStomboxes and Reddit. People who looked at it couldn't find errors. A few people who had similar problems told me it was fixed when they swapped out their cheap Russian transistors for different (American, British) ones. BTW, the Simulcast is an...

    2N404 Germanium Transistors from NTE?

I recently built a Simulcast using a NOS Russian Ge transistor from Small Bear. I think the transistor is bad (it squeals), so went to buy a different transistor, but Small Bear is closed because of the pandemic. Elsewhere, I managed to find some brand-new 2N404 Germanium Transistors from NTE...

    500k Linear Potentiometer—Dual Gang?

Thanks! Just out of curiosity, what would be a case where you'd want a dual gang pot? When you want two values to adjust at the same rate in parallel?

    500k Linear Potentiometer—Dual Gang?

I don't mind wasting one if it means waiting another two weeks for a Tayda order. But would snipping the leads affect the performance in any way? The pedal is an Aion Electronics Aurora compressor. I've built a bunch through PedalPCB too, which are all fantastic. And these forums are great...

    500k Linear Potentiometer—Dual Gang?

I purchased the only 500K OHM Linear Potentiometer PCB Mount that I could find on Tayda. It arrived today and it's dual gang mount (see attached.) Is that right? The circuit calls for a B500K linear pot with parallel resistors. Doesn't call out dual gang. Is there any way for me to use the...

    Simulcast Oscillation Squeal

Thanks! Yes, all of the build reports are great and it seems like a fantastic PCB. I just read two reports of oscillation. One (on Reddit) was apparently fixed by replacing a faulty Ge transistor. My earlier issue was because I had the pin out wrong on the Russian ge. So I got some signal but...

    Simulcast Oscillation Squeal

EDIT: SOLVED! It was a faulty Russian Ge transistor. I swapped it out for an NTE 2N404 Ge transistor from Digi-Key, and it works great. When Small Bear reopens, I may try a few other transistors in the socket. ORIGINAL POST: I built a Simulcast that will be incredible.....if I can get it...

Simulcast Transistor - which one for OC71 ?

What will be the difference in sound from high leakage to low leakage transistors? Do the high leakage ones sound more velcroey and sputtery? Or is there some other difference?

Simulcast Issue—Very low volume when engaged. Transistor issue?

Before I pull everything out, any thoughts on what could cause that squeal? The pedal works like normal except the squeal/feedback is constant under the guitar sound. Could it be a faulty transistor, or some problem with power filtering? I’ve heard that some Fuzz Faces have a similar problem...

Simulcast Issue—Very low volume when engaged. Transistor issue?

So I figured out the pin out issue with the Russian Ge transistor. But now I get a very loud, constant squeal behind the course signal. When I’m playing it sounds great, but when I stop playing the squeal goes nuts. Sounds like feedback. The tone of the squeal-noise changes when I adjust the...

Simulcast Issue—Very low volume when engaged. Transistor issue?

So I just swapped out the Russian transistor for one from a Tone Bender MKII I built (a Colorsound TB Pro MK II "Flat Hat".) It has a normal pinout. Now, when I play the Simulcast with the TB MKII, every setting is the normal volume, but super-starved and velcroey. Each note just fades within...

Simulcast Issue—Very low volume when engaged. Transistor issue?

Yup, it's socketed. You mean test out different pinout arrangements? Does it seem like that might be a source of low volume? I can post pics tomorrow.

Simulcast Issue—Very low volume when engaged. Transistor issue?

EDIT: I resolved this issue by installing a different Ge Russian transistor. But now I have a different issue—started a separate thread for it. Don't know how to delete this thread. I just completed a Simulcast that I'm really excited about. But when I engage the pedal, I only get a low volume...

Simulcast IC—is it a charge pump? And which type?

welp, I thought I was done, but then noticed that I was about to install a B250K pot instead of a B25K pot. Ooops! And the B25K pots are surprisingly hard to source. Is there an alternative? B50K? Thank you!

Simulcast IC—is it a charge pump? And which type?

Ok, almost done with the board! I find myself without a 450R resistor at r12. Is there another value I could swap out? Something fairly common? Also, for the 100uF at c11, I only have a 16v 100uF Aishi. Will that work? Thank you!
