I like to use the MG Chemicals remover as well Amazon Link Scrub it with anti-static brushes Amazon Link 2 Then finish it off with IPA and a separate brush. It's pricey and probably not worth it but it does look good and helps if I need to troubleshoot.

I used 2N5457s. According to the build doc, the 2N5457s are less gain-y and compressed than the J201s.

Nice. Glad you got inspired to jam on it. The high gain hiss is pretty normal but mine does squeal in drive is cranked. I'm almost certain i can remedy this though. Either way it rocks
