SpinCad "Simulator" plays for two seconds, skips like a CD and stops.

Thanks Larry! I don't fuss with the inner workings of SpinCAD at the Java level. I roughly grasp the purpose now of Eclipse's roll in SpinCAD, but going there is just a bit daunting for me.

Do We Need/Want a BBD Tester?

OK, I was able to get some testing time in and found that it does work for the MN30xx series. And please note that I corrected my comment above - #56 When I tried an MN3102 and an MN3207 I get no sound. Toggle is in the correct position. Haven't measured any voltages yet cuz I was too excited...

SpinCad "Simulator" plays for two seconds, skips like a CD and stops.

I run Big Sur 11.7 on one of my MacBooks and Sequoia 15.x on another and have no issues with the SpinCAD Designer 'Simulator'. For my Java experience, I run Oracle Java version 8.45 on both of them. I just went to the Oracle site and looked up "java downloads" and let the site display what was...

Do We Need/Want a BBD Tester?

Fair enough. And thank you. And to continue a vein of submissive humiliating admissions, it hadn't even occurred to me to use the DIP switch. I assumed it was reserved for just the MN3011. Looking at the schematic again, it's clear that DIP switch pin #5 must be closed for testing MN30XX/MN32XX...

Flock Harmonizing Fuzz - getting feedback squeal

FWFW . . . There is no measurable/detectable difference between a TL072CP and a TL072IP. They are swappable with zero issues. I used the TL072IP in mine and many other builds without problems. And the VCOOUT of the 4046 is a clock signal and should be part of the audio chain at all. If that's...

Do We Need/Want a BBD Tester?

Now that the forum is back up-n-running . . . . [EDIT - 5:46pm May 30, 2025] I did some more testing, ensuring I had the polarities correct and all, and found that no signal gets thru circuit. I haven't tried to trouble shoot it yet (audio probe, scope, etc) but it should pass signal once the...

Do We Need/Want a BBD Tester?

Without excuses and all humility, I have to back-track my last two responses. In my dyslexia, I found four issues with my testing: 1) I was coming down with a fever yesterday morning when I did the tests. So I wasn't thinking clearly. (All better today and embarrassed about the next two.) 2) For...

Do We Need/Want a BBD Tester?

One small thing I'd like to request . . . . Please reverse the polarity of the DC jack so it is positive-center. That way, when the toggle bat is switched toward the user, the MN30xx series (not the MN32xx) is up for testing. It matches the silkscreen print on the PCB. And remember please, the...

Do We Need/Want a BBD Tester?

I just tried to test an MN3007 with circuit fully built out and populated with just an MN3101 and the MN3007 and it fried the MN3007 - it got super hot. I used a 9V battery to test, with a negative center plug. I double-checked the voltages at the appropriate pins before I inserted the chips and...

Do We Need/Want a BBD Tester?

Thank you! With the new Gerbers, I have to ask, does this look right to you? I just uploaded the Gerbers to JLCPCB and it appears the solder mask is covering the copper on the two new holes for the MN3005 footprint. It doesn't appear right, as if the solder mask and/or ground plane needs to be...

Thanks! Did your PCBs arrive yet? And, is there any way you could convert the PCB projectile(s) to EasyEDA?

Do We Need/Want a BBD Tester?

@Stickman393 . . . . . . Houston, we have a problem. While I've yet to actually fire up on e of these new BBD Tester boards, It seems there is a layout problem with the MN3005 footprint. Unfortunately, I didn't discover it until after I fully built it out. Kinda bummed that I missed this on...

Stereo Mod for Unison Double Tracker (Pythagoras)

No. The mod shown in the OP only provides an extra channel of un-effected signal. So one side will have the effect (if the 'Mix' control is set to full wet) and the other will be dry only.

Do We Need/Want a BBD Tester?

Just received the first batch from OSHPark. They look good. Building out now but still need the dip switches and jacks. (Just ordered and should be here Friday.) I'll let you know how the first test goes when I can finish the first build.

SpinCad "Simulator" plays for two seconds, skips like a CD and stops.

FWIW, I just went to the Oracle website download section and let it autosense my machine to get the latest and greatest Java JDK platform.

I use SpinCAD on three different platforms, M1Mac being one, and it works fine there. I use that same same wave file from GitHub and have had no issues. Is your M1's Java up to date?

SpinCad "Simulator" plays for two seconds, skips like a CD and stops.

Do you have the SpinCAD "Simulator/Set Sample Rate" setting properly matched to the audio file's sample rate? What is the name and sample rate of the audio file being used?
