If you want to get rid of everything, powdercoat included, I'd suggest acetone. It's not particularly dangerous (other than being flammable) and is inexpensive and easily available.

Good looking guts. I've built three of these (non bass versions) for friends and always appreciated the clean wiring on them. I've yet to build myself a bass version, though. If you have the chance please post a demo.

The knobs were still all wonky when using them. They just pinched in and didn't really solve the problem.

La Croix cans are .04". That's probably the same for all cans. I know this because I use them as spacers on my lathe pretty often.

My experience with those copper spacers is that they are absolute garbage. I wish I had a better option to offer but all I can say is that those things suck but they're probably your best bet.
