Adventures in UV Printing - Eufymake E1

Yeah this is only my second formal cease and desist (not counting the "I really don't like that you're making these") I received, and so far the only cool one. The only problem is that the letter is 40 pages long so I have to decide which page is the coolest because I don't have 40 pages worth...

Adventures in UV Printing - Eufymake E1

I don't take it personally, I'm actually flattered that they even know I exist. I'm planning to frame the letter and hang it up in the shop.

Adventures in UV Printing - Eufymake E1

Found another great use for the UV printer: complying with cease and desist letters. I have a couple preamps based on existing amplifiers and apparently crossed into some gray area of "fair use", so I'm relabeling them per their request so I can sell off my existing stock.

    External SSD drives

Why does it need to be SSD? Are you expecting to need to read data off them at high speeds? HDD are reliable for backup, they're just bigger and slower. I have 4x HDD set up as a redundant 2x2 for my backups.

    Orange OR15 Amp Issue

Do you or someone you know have a tube tester? I don't like telling people to buy new tubes if they don't specifically know which one is the problem.

Anyone who built the Wrecking Ball from C2C Electronics ?

Crap, I thought I had those in the BOM, looks like I don't. The holes are sized for M3 hardware, standoff should be 10mm long (not including threaded section).

If you were going to build a compact Bass pedalboard?

I have a policy that I don't make DIY projects for active Sushi Box products, and the chances of discontinuing literally my best-selling product ever are pretty slim.

If you were going to build a compact Bass pedalboard?

I literally sell more of those than everything else I make combined. Not to toot my own horn, but they're pretty good.

If you were going to build a compact Bass pedalboard?

My bare minimum must-haves on bass are tuner, HPF (if none of the others have it built-in), compressor, and preamp/D.I. If you have a little more room my nice-to-haves are chorus, fuzz/OD, and envelope filter.

    Benchtop Drill Press Experiences?

I mean I've been thinking about getting a new one, you're welcome to the old one if you're willing to brave the hourlong drive on the weed smoke-filled expressway for it.

Organic Aluminum Polymers for Electrolytic - do they have a place?

The answer is, as always, "it depends." If you're using a reasonable power supply, an extra handful of microamps of leakage are not going to bother your Cioks DC7 that's capable of supplying 660mA to a <50mA load like a Klon. This will matter a bit more if you're using a battery, as leakage...

Organic Aluminum Polymers for Electrolytic - do they have a place?

My opinion is that you absolutely can drop them in for any and every electrolytic cap on a schematic if you have them on hand. I would say if the original design has an electro in the signal path (typically a no-no) these would be a good alternative if you don't want to use tantalum. They're...

Organic Aluminum Polymers for Electrolytic - do they have a place?

We're talking about different things here. Electrical leakage refers to leakage current, not physical leaking of chemicals. Granted prolonged electrical failure of a capacitor can lead to physical failure which can result in chemical leakage, but "low leakage" doesn't mean "less likely to spill...

Organic Aluminum Polymers for Electrolytic - do they have a place?

I think the chances you'll hear a difference between a regular electrolytic and a polymer electrolytic are slim. I've see a few IC datasheets that specifically call for them when high capacitance/high voltage/low ESR/low leakage are required, but that describes a miniscule amount of what happens...

Anyone got a starter kit they have used and liked, not music related per se

I'm a strong Arduino advocate, that thing rocks. Very easy point of entry into embedded systems and provides a great balance between simplicity and capability. The interface is easy enough to use that you can learn to write a simple program in under an hour, and in college I wrote a real-time...

Is a project like this possible? (please, correct or delete if not pertinent)

The tricky thing about turning Wrecking Ball into a two-channel preamp is you almost definitely need to go to 1590DD, there's no way you would be able to fit two footswitches and 10 pots (I figured drop the presence control) with three tubes in a 1590XX. If I were to do a two-channel, it would...

Is a project like this possible? (please, correct or delete if not pertinent)

Everything sounds completely possible, but you're describing a big complicated multi-channel thing with independent EQ per channel and then saying That's always the trade-off. A two-channel preamp is feasible in a 1590XX, but if you want to add a bunch of features you're going to be moving into...

Modulation pedals after the Particle Accelerator

The output of Particle Accelerator is hot but in the grand scheme of things it's a high-impedance (38k or so) output so it won't be frying anything, but you will need to keep the volume of PA down so you aren't clipping the input of the next pedal in the chain, because as I'm sure you know, PA...

Adventures in UV Printing - Eufymake E1

The ink definitely has a smell, but it's certainly not as strong as lasered paint. The E1 has an air filter to help with the odor, and it's definitely not as bad as my old A4 printer smell.
