Does anyone may a phaser with a blend control?

My old BYOC Phase 90 has a Depth control added, but no Mix/Blend. I like to use my JMK Paralyzer https://jmkpcbs.com/product/paralyzer/ for parallel effects chains or to add a clean blend to anything. Maybe this little crossfader utility board would work for adding an in-box Blend...

    Desoldering Advice

I use braid for most things. Also have a plug-in solder sucker (nothing fancy, just a $30 one from EBay). Being able to heat and suck with one device is definitely easier/more effective for me. **insert “that’s what she said” and rimshots as needed…;) Chip Quik might be overkill for what...

    Low Tide Mini: "Plover Modulator"

Ground to the case? Are you not using plastic ones?

WHY DOESN'T MY 9VDC POWER SUPPLY WORK WITH MY PEDALS ?

Are you using the correct polarity? Most pedal PCBs are expecting Center Negative.

    Low Tide Mini: "Plover Modulator"

I’ve always used the “outties” too. The argument that they stick out doesn’t make any sense to me when you consider that there’s going to be a power chord and two 1/4” audio cables that stick out even more. 🤷‍♀️

Should I expect to pay Tariffs on Tayda Orders?

Tariffs, like sales tax, are regressive and thus will always disproportionately hit the little guys. If, however, you’ve got a spare few million lying around and you want to make a ‘charitable donation’ to someone’s ballroom, then there are probably exemptions to be had…

Should I expect to pay Tariffs on Tayda Orders?

Even if something is “made” in the US, doesn’t mean everything it’s made out of also came from the US. For example you could buy enclosures from a US company, but we don’t mine much bauxite here anymore. So the aluminum is probably coming from overseas…

W-w-w-what would you do? (to plop a foot-switchable toggle into an muff)

A tone bypass switch will give you a very dramatic change in sound in one switch. You get all the mids back and a big level boost from not going through the passive filters.

Assuming DOUT and Din (red traces on right side) are at 10ghz, Will emi interfere with electrode inputs on the left?

EEG? As in electroencephalogram? Unless it’s a brain-controlled Superfuzz (if so, kudos to you, sir!), you’re unlikely to find “professional experts” here…on the DIY guitar fx pedal forum…🤷‍♀️ * On a side note, can somebody help me debug the distorted repeats on my homebrew Defibrillator, or...

    Beginner confused with BOM

Another reason to buy spares is that a lot of places will give you a pretty significant price break at Qty 10 or 25 vs. 1. Good advice on paying attention to capacitor size. If you don’t want to scrutinize the dimensions of every one, physical size is generally proportional to Voltage rating. I...

    Reverb Preferences

I use the spring reverb in my amp (Vox Pathfinder) for a little bit of ‘everyday’ reverb, and I’ve got an EHX Cathedral when I want a more obvious ‘effect-y’ sound. Haven’t been too drawn to DIY options. Though building a bigger (than what’s in my amp) real spring verb (maybe with exposed...

    circuit modifications in amps

I don’t have much to add to what others have said: i.e. read up on existing resources, come up with and articulate a plan about what you’re trying to accomplish, etc. I will say, as someone whose day job is Master Electrician… Things I would do: go poking around in a 480V electrical panel, as...

Mouser and Digikey search game changer?

For ICs I search by name, then filter by package type (assuming I want through-hole stuff) and “in stock”. That gets rid of about 90% of the chaff. For resistors and caps I put in a few more attributes like type, tolerance, voltage rating, etc. Of course now you also have to look at the...

Do you pay any attention to Capacitor ‘Life’ ratings?

Re: stacked PCB stuff, I do have a Blueshift in the ‘to build’ queue. But I used Aion’s Mouser BOM for that, so I assume everything should fit. I have a Madbean Skoolie that I still need to order parts for. Guess I’ll have to pay a bit of attention there…

Do you pay any attention to Capacitor ‘Life’ ratings?

I’m buying stuff strictly for new builds. I generally stick to Panasonic/Nichicon/Rubycon @ 35-63V for electrolytics. The only piece of “vintage” gear I still own is a Casio CZ-1000, and it does have a wall-wart;)
