SOLVED Having trouble calibrating the Chop Shop!

PREAMBLE/RAMBLE: Hello everyone! Let me start by saying I HATE JFETs. If I build a pedal and it has a frustrating problem you can bet it has a JFET. Rant over!! That aside, I just built a Chop Shop after much recommendation from the forum. I've read all the tutorial posts from people talking...

Agh! Thank you. This was the intel I was lacking

    Good source for tantalum 100p

Hey all! I’ve built many and mostly have it under control at this point. But one thing I can’t get together is sourcing tantalum caps! I need some 100p ones. Any leads? Many thanks Christian

Favorite low gain drive pedal on pedal Pcb?

I got the SMD ones for sale on here! I’ve had some terrible luck in the past. Hoping this goes better

Favorite low gain drive pedal on pedal Pcb?

Hotter than PAFs! It’s a 70s Epiphone Crestwood

Favorite low gain drive pedal on pedal Pcb?

Thank you all! Im thinking the Red Herring and Chop Shop might be my next moves!

Favorite low gain drive pedal on pedal Pcb?

I built the Mach one but I didn’t love the EQ profile of that one. The drive level was nice though.

Favorite low gain drive pedal on pedal Pcb?

Can a chop shop user tell me if it gets drivey on single notes (I only ever play single notes in this band). I hear it drives a little on a chord. Demos sound great!

Favorite low gain drive pedal on pedal Pcb?

Hi all! Thinking about my next build. I want an”always on” OD pedal out front of a silver face Princeton. Really just to add a tiny bit of breakup. Think Ricky Wilson B52s. I was using a Duocast, however I just got an old Epiphone with some pretty hot humbuckers, so now the minimum drive on...

    Simulcast (latest version) semi working

OK so I checked continuity from both the empty sockets and each leg of (collector and emitter) of Q2 when it was socketed to their corresponding resistors, both worked so I think we are all good there. Im thinking next step is maybe trying other Transistors in there (when they arrive). If anyone...

I do! I’ll try that tonight. So glad I socketed that one

    Simulcast (latest version) semi working

Would the transistor being the wrong HFE cause this sort of behavior? I have a tester on the way. Others have mentioned around 80 as optimal, can others confirm this?

I’ll investigate this method too. I was wiggling the can with my fingers yes.

Excellent! Massive thank you. I’ll look into this soon as I get a break from work (Saturday I’d say)

    Simulcast (latest version) semi working

This theory holds water because when I jiggle the transistor about the signal cuts in and out. But it really seems like it’s making contact, I’m not sure how it wouldn’t be

Oh fantastic! I didn’t want to remove the transformer. I’m going to go over the values asap. How might I ensure contact on the transistor?

Ps thank you for looking this over. I appreciate it!

I had also read this and was operating under this assumption can someone confirm?
