What Rotary Switches Do You Like?

I found some uninsulated copper crimp ferrules that are just 6mm tube at 12mm lengths, I think the OD might be able to squeak through and I’d just have to cut them in half. Only thing stopping me from buying them is wondering if I could ever possibly use 200 of them in my lifetime

What Rotary Switches Do You Like?

lmao I was about to say you could probably make a pencil's eraser ferrule work in a pinch too, I'm gonna steal your method

What Rotary Switches Do You Like?

Lovemyswitches sells adapters that can make round shaft knobs work better with d and t18. My go to knobs are available in t18 and I keep a few on hand but I have used the adapters in a pinch and can vouch for them, but for a personal build a round shaft knob will typically (IME) stay put without...

    ICL7660SCPAZ vs TC1044SCPA

Yup. There’s some newer 7660s too for what it’s worth - tc7662s can withstand a higher input voltage for example (18v for tc7662A, 15v for B suffix). I mostly use 7662s unless a pedal specifically needs the higher current output

(SOLVED) Help w/ Carbon Black Fuzz

Sounds like the 2n2222a's are installed backwards, if I'm remembering right the pinouts can vary by manufacturer

    JRC5534 - different pinout from CA3130?

The 1nf compensation capacitor is lowering the slew rate a ton here. Not sure how critical it is to the sound of the pedal but because of that I’d try single op amps you might use in a Rat like the LM308, OP07, 741, etc if you have on hand

Off Board Wiring in Production Pedals??

I'm really curious to hear from people with actual knowledge but my assumption is that the cost decision is more about the division of labor and less about the actual assembly of it. Board mounted or not, pots are where a build starts to get bulky on turnover racks and I would guess are often a...

Library options? And a couple other noob thoughts

Trust I've made literally every one of these mistakes too lol. Just wait until you develop extreme opinions on pcb fonts and numbering systems and hate otherwise perfect boards you've made a year after the fact just because of that lmao

US based seller of soldering supplies

SRA Solder in addition to being the manufacturer of my favorite rosin flux (#135) also stock the MG Chemical's lead free solder that I use. I've bought from CS and TEquipment before as well. Chipquik has an online store as well but I can't speak to it personally. I've purchased from MarVac (via...

circuit layout with charge pump best practices

Do lower switching charge pumps cause the same type/amount of noise? I agree with what’s been said already otherwise

Library options? And a couple other noob thoughts

I’ve read the same thing before but I’m pretty sure at the currents and voltages we’re using in guitar pedals it doesn’t really matter. If you look up trace width calculators and guidelines even the diptrace default (2.54mm) satisfies them for practically all pedal circuits. That said, I still...

I’ll do the ground pours last so it doesn’t think I’m making an error as I lay out traces. Also make sure to double check that the fill has been updated and nets are all connected before sending off to fab! Learned that one the hard way

The caesar is a perfect board to measure for max dimensions. I would imagine the width is pretty close to 60.96mm but the full heights and footswitch gap will be really helpful to know

Library options? And a couple other noob thoughts

There might be some storage / organization benefits but for me personally I always prefer as large as can fit in an enclosure comfortably so I can leave more space around potentiometers to make soldering them easier on me. For a 125B I start with 60.96mmx58.42mm and if needed add around the...

Curds and whey distortion added to a better overdrive?

If it hasn’t been brought up in this thread, it’s worth mentioning that the Escobedo Tripple Fuzz is based on another synth wavefolder and frequency tripler design by Lockhart. The ZVex Machine is basically two stages of SHOs into tripplers. https://docs.pedalpcb.com/project/Gadget.pdf...

Curds and whey distortion added to a better overdrive?

I played around with the wave folder section in LTSpice tonight. Instead of working with different gain stages I just varied the amplitude of the sine wave I was sending through the folder. Some random notes, using the pedalpcb curds and whey refdes, take everything with a grain of salt: Using...
