I recently purchased some 2N5457s and 2N5458s and am wondering if there are some simple pedal circuit schematics out there that use those transistors. I know the Rat uses it, and I may start there, but am wondering if there is a better or more simple place to start.

I figured out that soldering two BAT41s together like this sounds pretty good. (See blue diodes in pic.) Is this considered a bad practice?

In the Ghost Drive it looks like I used some MLCCs vs regular ceramics. Wonder if that would affect it very much.

I added more detail to my question above. It just sounds a little bit like there is a spike in the upper mid range. Almost like Queen, which is a great tone, but I’m going for more of a warmer tone.

Which capacitors in the Kliche Mini affect the tone? I know for sure C15 affects tone. Wondering if other caps impact it as well? (btw-The reason I’m asking is because I have the StewMac Ghost Drive with the same diodes and it sounds different. I’m trying to get their sound closer matching by...

Sometimes I see 10pF represented by the code 10, and other times I see it represented by the code 100 … same with 20pF, sometimes 20, other times 200. Which is it or are both correct?

Is the L78L05 an NPN or PNP transistor? I believe it is an NPN. I thought a quick Google search would clear it up but I got confusing mixed results from AI (see attached screenshots).

I ended up with R4 at 20k which turned out to be just right for my ears in terms of unity gain. The video is an exact representation of the volume change from pedal OFF to pedal ON. Even if technically there is a tiny boost happening, that’s ok in my mind because reverb sets the signal back in...

I’m amazed at how people are able to scan an entire build and spot things so quickly. I’ve been doing this under a year and have a long way to go, but hope to get good at this stuff with more practice and time.
