I don't have the stones to even try to replicate this one. James did all the wiring and no...its straight up raw wire. I'd finished the board and had drilled the enclosure and passed it on to James. Only to find out I'd whiffed on the jack placement. He turned a potential turd into artwork...

I have this janky old Ampeg G100 that someone gave me. Needed all new electros but there's not much to these things except they're VERY neutral. It can also get uncomfortably loud. It's solid state but breaks up in a very pleasing way and I know what it sounds like so it's a good reference.

All amps in general. I must admit I haven't fiddled with preamp pedals outside of standards like the BK Butler Tube Driver.

Honestly I've always been underwhelmed with anything in the main stage(s) by anything other than a 12AX7. It always sounds like it's a bit winded and struggling, if that makes any sonic sense. Kinda sterile. Now obviously ymmv.

Curious to see how this works out. I have mine facing the lamp with most of my different builds but maybe more random light and higher sensitivity? I've been close on builds but never seem to able to get the roundness of the original. My builds tend to sound more on-off-on-off. Or just too weak.

RJ is one of those guys that could plug a garden rake into a toaster and get a good sound...

Try using a short patch cord to connect the send and return on the loop. If that fixes it the shorting jacks are dirty or bent.

I really liked this circuit and used it for a while at low to medium gain but even then the noise was a bit much. Still you got the notion that the ROG folks were on to something here. I'll have to dig thru my bin to see if I still have the original. Honestly, I think I sold it.

Am still using regular old water slides so always up for something new.

Curious to see where this goes. I use my rig mostly to learn tunes for the week but have had nice results with the Amplitube Axe I/O.
