Afraid you would say that. Ah well, hate to admit defeat but I guess you’re right. Much appreciate everyone’s help!

    SOLVED Cobalt Drive problems…..SOLVED……..FINALLY!

Yes, I’m rounding off. Sorry, taking pics with the mag lite app but that’s about as sharp as I can get. Per #320 above, I decided to put that bridge in between Q1 and Q3 and amazingly I immediately got audio out to my amp, albeit pretty low volume. And the pots worked. Since then,,,,,,,I...

    It is not, fortunately.

I checked all the spots. Nothing cracked or loose. Today’s Q6 voltages: 9, 8, 5. Same with gain at 0 or 10

Well, I did have to solder on the pins and then put ‘em on the board so there is some amateur work there…..

J201’s came from PedalPCB 😁. See #115 above. I previously had some from Amazon which caused folks to suggest I swap them out, so I did.

Haven’t posted any memes, Chuck, and I do appreciate your patient help. I have cleaned the board since the photos early in this thread but will do so again, with more gusto. 😁

Whoa. Gonna need to go back to school for that one. Here’s to hoping my new Q5 when it arrives matches Q6…….

grounding on the power jack. 1.8v with gain on 0 or 10. off to bed here on the east coast. Tomorrow is our 46th anniversary so I better be coherent in the morning………….

Great question. I try to test the same way every time, but there must be some operator error in there. Sorry to ask, but how do you ”set DRIVE”?

    SOLVED Cobalt Drive problems…..SOLVED……..FINALLY!

    Keeping in mind Q5 is removed, Q6 now reads 9, 8.6 and 2v. Q5 pads read 9, 7, 0. aliveness test on Q6: 0.63v on both B-E and B-C.

Most likely operator error. I will test again a few times. I can only imagine I broke Q5 during installation or it arrived faulty. We’ll find out when replacement arrives (already ordered). Tks, Chuck!

Ok, Q5 removed. R12 still measures 2.2k. The patient did not survive the operation, however, so I’ll be ordering more Q5’s (2N3906) transistors. In the meantime, is that result what you expected, meaning Q5 was the problem?

So, pardon the question, but I measured resistance on R12 and it is the correct 2.2k. Once I remove Q5, what should it read if it’s working properly? 2.2k or something else? Also, Q6 readings are 9; 8.6; and 7v. Q3 today is 9; 6.7 and 0.4. Clearly that collector pin is way different.

    SOLVED Cobalt Drive problems…..SOLVED……..FINALLY!

    I can confirm Q5 voltage is indeed 9, 7 and .33 as earlier reported. Q1 also the same as reported. 7;4;4. And IC voltages are: 1: 3.2; 2: 5.5; 3: 5.5; 4: 0; 5: 3.5; 6: 5.5; 7: 9; 8: 0. and Q5 is a 2N3906: here is what I bought...

Too funny. working on it now. Btw, the new version of asking Kung Fu borders on the silly often, unlike the original.
