Starting to use ChatGPT to write optimizer for SpinCAD

Great! This patch opened without issue. I'll get to play with SpinCAD release 1056 this week. Thanks DL! I've not heard of Mary Halvorson till I saw the patch you posted. I'll check her out. (Just checked out some her music. Wow! She's a different jazz musician.)

Starting to use ChatGPT to write optimizer for SpinCAD

DL - I think the sweetest upgrade to your SpinCAD Designer would be for it to be able to import SpinASM (xxxx.SPN) files. I know that would be a tremendous stretch. Unfortunately, the fresh MaryH patch file renders the same error when I tried to open it.

Starting to use ChatGPT to write optimizer for SpinCAD

DL - here's what I got in debug mode, trying to load the Mary-H patch . . . . (All the o.O are actually "small case o - period - large case O". The smileys have taken over that character pattern.) and my Java version . . . . . Done from my PC laptop.

Starting to use ChatGPT to write optimizer for SpinCAD

On my Macs I have JRE/Java build 1.8.0_481-b10 I have the latest versions on my PCs too. (I still have to sort out how to get into debug mode with the SpinCAD Designer.)

Starting to use ChatGPT to write optimizer for SpinCAD

I tried it on both my MacBook and on both Windows machine I have and got the same message. I even downloaded it again to no avail. I'll have to try the debug stuff on a Windows machine . . . .

Starting to use ChatGPT to write optimizer for SpinCAD

EDIT: (see below - at the bottom) Sweet! (y) Thank you DL! Yeah, my SpinASM coding is in its infancy still, so the SpinCAD file is appreciated for my better understanding. The VC plugin looks promising, but I dropped the VC development tools over 10 years ago. Hats off to the younger...

Starting to use ChatGPT to write optimizer for SpinCAD

Cool beans! Is there an accompanying SpinCAD Designer file to go with the Mary Halvorson SpinASM (txt) file for comparison?

Transistor: proper continuity / fails hFE test

Recalling my amp repair days, I never futzed with wonky components when their test measurements were suspiciously off; I just replaced 'em. Especially where it came to the splitter/output sections. Just my 2¢

8" vs 4" Speakers for practice amp

Bass response would be the primary reason behind using a larger speaker.

    Simple high pass filter question

I don't think so. RL is the load impedance and RIN is the input impedance. Should be about 16K for RB and 100nF for C1. But that only renders a -3db slope. To get a -6db slope, you would need two of those HPFs in series. DigiKey LPF & HPF Calculator

    Alternate Online FV-1 Dis-Assembler

It seems to work. I just dropped a coupla different files into it and the output appears to be SpinASM. I've slept since actually using and testing it, with EEPROMs, so I'm not sure how well it translates. I do have a few different FV-1 bin/hex files I want to convert to SpinASM, so it may be...

    DeadEnd FX 'Reflektor' Project

The DeadEnd FX 'Reflektor', IMO, is quite a complex build; especially when it comes to housing the guts. Make three or four tiny mistakes on the enclosure drills and artwork and bench-life gets intense. (3 labels in wrong spots, missing expression label and control drills just 1mm to close to...

    Rate LED on Woodpecker

You should need only to strap the Rate LED across R6; with the cathode on the Q2 side.
