    TC1 tester readings

I read my last message and I not even certain I understand my own questions:unsure: ....so please allow me re-phrase it: I'm I right to assume that 14uA is low when it comes to transistors leakage? What would be considered a usable leakage range for germanium transistor in general?

    TC1 tester readings

So in the case of the reading I get from the GT404B (14uA) is very low right as target is to be under 300 ... i'm I being correct? hFE = 91 Une = 118mV Ic = 1.2mA Ibe = .26m Ices=14uA

    TC1 tester readings

Good point! So let take GT404B transistor for examples. Here are the readings I'm getting from TC1. Is the leakage Ice? hFE = 91 Une = 118mV Ic = 1.2mA Ibe = .26m Ices=14uA

    TC1 tester readings

I've been using the TC1 tester to check all components in preparation for all my builds. The res and caps is pretty strait forward. As for the transistors, I have been measuring/using the hFE but the tester also providing the Ube (mV) and Ic (mA). If we use use 2N5088 for example. Does it...

Fighting the urge to give up

I hear you! I started about 2 years ago. I struggled a few times but in the end I was able to fix most of them. There is one of my built that I just could not figure it out. I keep placing it aside and I at some point decided to reorder the PCB and components to start fresh. Just before I was...

    Tacky pots

I got mines from SBP. I have had good luck with there Cusack house brand pots so far. They have a good selection, good price point and ship fast. As recommended above, I should have left the coated non-conductive grease alone .... which I'll do next time.

    Tacky pots

Very informative. I have always felt a little grease/tackiness on Alpha pots and other brand. I just received another brand that I have also used in the past but this time it was heavily greased and surprisingly gummy. I'll leave it alone next time knowing that it's fine as is. Thank you for...

    Tacky pots

I ordered a bunched of pots and some of them are grease gummy/tacky on the outside way more than usual (shaft, cover, pins). I know it's need grease inside so I don't wish to affect that but should I clean the outside a bit so that it does not attract dust or just leave these alone? If so, any...

    Auditorium Test Platform protective enclosure

Adhesive rubber feet it is for now and I might do the standoff/underplate if I get my hands on a piece of acrylic down the road. Thanks for you suggestions. @fig you should be allowed for a rematch.

    Banzai disaster

I was curious to see this post this morning ... I was literally wondering at this exact moment what was going on with an order I placed on Jan 21st that as not shipped yet. I emailed them two days ago and no reply yet. It's sad that they can't keep up to speed as they seem to have a decent...

Special Overdrive/Shin's Dumbloid - wrong resistor

Thank you all for commenting. Helped me understand the purpose of the R15 resistor in reference to the capacitor/switch to create a low pass filter. I didn't really realized how that worked. Useful tool by that way R-C Filter Calculator by the way once you know how that relates on the overall...

Special Overdrive/Shin's Dumbloid - wrong resistor

I wrongly identified 120R resistors as 100R resistors in my components inventory. I went back to the few previous builds I did and lucky enough, I only had used the wrong resistors in one project which is the Special Overdrive (Shin's Dumbloid). I always mesure my components so this one really...

Who's down for some SMD layouts?

Any chance PedalPCB SMD layout could lead to royal 300+ component project you have been working on for a moment? .... and I can't just begin to imaging the multiple step challenge from digging the gooped to access the compenent to functional PCB!

    Super '64 OD troubleshooting

I checked the range of the 3rd trimmer. It does sweep from 0 - 47 ohms. Just finished building an audio probe. I get why it's an essential tool. I am getting a full volume tone on Q1 and Q2 so tested all the components between Q2 and Q3. C7 = tone @ full volume Tone pot and C8 = tone @ full...

    Super '64 OD troubleshooting

I was going to move on and start with a fresh PCB before I started this post but figured it was part of the learning curve to troubleshoot. I sure learned a lot tonight navigating through this challenge. I'm happy I didn't just move on. I'll pick this up tomorrow starting with measuring the...
