My first build. Low tide. Made a mistake. Is this redeemable?

I have J201 and I soldered the SMD there too. So I suppose I basically put two of the same components at the same position?

SMD version is the little three pin nasty bugger that doesn't go through the board?

There was not one in the set I bought. I saw multiple gutshots of Low Tide with that part missing so I didn't think it to be weird. For example, see.

Okay, I build the audio probe. Where do I start? Also here's the photo of a complete board.

So adjusting the trimmer has no effect. Would you agree it's for some multimeter work?

Actually in previous post I described how I replaced them with simple mono with tip and sleeve and can now get sound through when the pedal isn't engaged. When engaged, no sound but the diode is on. I don't much like the mono replacements as the different parts were moving in really unsettling...

Thank you for showing me alternative ways and explaining things. I'm lucky to have you guys backing me up. I just checked and my paycheck is a week from now so I'll let it breathe for couple of days and then buy one. Is there something to watchout for when buying budget multimeters? Some red...

I see. I used the ring for input/output and the sleeve for grounding.

My first build. Low tide. Made a mistake. Is this redeemable?

I noticed that the connectors of input/output were touching the metal of the casing and once I broke the contact, sound was coming through. Next, I engaged the pedal and it let the sound out but it was somewhat muffled and would not react to knobs at all. I noticed that the pins with red wires...

A breakthrough. I decided to move it around with my foot and bits of sound started to come out with the pedal turned off. I managed to kick it into a state of constant sound coming through, however when i move it a bit, the sound breaks. When I engage the pedal, there is no sound coming out.

I changed the inputs for new ones, simpler ones, definitely mono, two pins. Still no sound coming through even with the pedal switched off. Tried to plug it other way round in case I wired the output as input and vice versa. No sound coming through. I use instrument cables, definitely mono.

You're right, here are the pictures. As for the stereo jacks. I've found couple different schools of thought. One said that it doesn't matter which you choose, just chip off the one you don't use. Other said to keep the unused pin in place and ground it with wire. Next said you can keep it in...

I did not touch them so far but there was no sound coming through even with the pedal switched off.

Okay, I will continue here. I don't know how to read schematic. I will use the power of internet to catch up on that. Also, I understand to proceed with my troubleshooting I will definitely need multimeter, right. That'll have to wait till next paycheck. In the meantime, can someone recommend...

So I finished it, plugged in and it did not explode. It didn't make a sound either. Should I continue this journey in a different section of this forum? Troubleshooting I suppose?

My first build. Low tide. Made a mistake. Is this redeemable?

I can't solder now because I'm dog-sitting so I decided to prepare the pots and mount them onto the metal casing. I noticed each potentiometer has this little piece of metal that causes issues. Once it gets to the little bugger, the pot starts to mount at angle. I was thinking I could compensate...

This is a great help. Everything is clear now. I think I'm going to finish it now and report the outcome in couple of hours. I'm so excited, oh boooooy.

Ok, I can do that. Plenty of instrument cables lying around. I'll plug it in and se where it connects. Thank you.
