    SOLVED Troubleshooting ts10

Probably just a manufacturers mark. Does it rub off easily? Capacitor goo, (IME) is usually a nasty, brownish color and leaks from the bottom. The cap will also usually be misshapen, though this can be subtle.

    Volume mod Can of Worms

Yeah, I gotta say I tried 180k as well, and it's fine at 180k. Less volume, but not a problem amount.

Parenthesis Fuzz Octave Intelligent Relay Bypass Help

Looks like the "power in" on the octave footswitch is reversed from the others.. Edit: Yeah, not the power. Just your footswitch wires. Don't troubleshoot while drowsy!

Barely Any Overdrive at Max - PedalPCB Chop Shop / Fairfield Circuitry Barbershop

From Music6000: From the Builder, Thanks Carl - FC : Let's start by sorting the JFETS. As we saw on the datasheet, J201's can have an Idss value from 200uA to 2mA. That is a huge range. For Q1, you want a J201 that has an Idss from 600-800 uA. For Q2, you want one with Idss about 400-600uA. So...

SOLVED Cobalt drive - Gain pot not working

Are you taking resistance measurements with the power on? The power should be off for resistance. It may not change your current readings, but it sure will give erroneous readings sometimes. The meter sends a known voltage through the leads, then measures the current, which gives resistance-...

    Is my MOSFET fried?

When I've had mosfets go bad, they usually read as 2 diodes, or it reads as unknown part on a TC-1. Your Source voltage seems high..

    Triad Distortion: no sound

I figured he did the "no diode" so he could get op-amp only tonez..

    Triad Distortion: no sound

Your parents may in fact be disappointed, but EVERYONE has done this at least once. I've built this kinda crap for 30 years, and I did it twice last week..

Wiring the leprechauns magic switch with switch PCB

Without a schematic, its tough to tell. The problem is, that board shorts the input to ground in bypass. ( pin 1 shorts to pin 6 in one position.) It would work if you didn't hook up the LED, or at least don't hook to the ground pad.

    Volume mod Can of Worms

I went with 10k cuz it's what I grabbed first. Worked for me. The op amp needs a bit of resistance on the output to guard from oscillation from a capacitive load, but 180k seems OVERkill..

    Fake transistor?

Looks like flash from the mold. There are literally trillions of 2n3904's in the world, no reason to fake 'em. The tolerance on capacitors is much wider than most transistors so I'd check the capacitor😉

Special Porpoise Fuzz (no tremolo/space noise)

Germanium diode is too leaky. Clamped to ground, it dumps all the signal. you could try another low leakage germanium, or low Vf silicon. Something like a BAT 46 would probably work. 2x 1n5817 in series would work well in a pinch.

    Angry Charlie -squeal/feedback/noise

Is you enclosure sufficiently grounded? The ground connection between board and enclosure is the 1/4" jacks, and the inside is painted. Removing a bit of the paint on the inside around the hole would probably be a good idea, although at best it may only minimize your O.G problem..

I was wondering about the choice of inverting 1st stage, wouldn't non-inverting be somewhat less noisy?
