In the case or the Brown Betty, the trimmers are for total gain. So there's no "recommended" setting. You put it where YOU like it, somewhere between "helluva lot of gain" and "way the hell too much" gain..
I've read and kept up with this thread, and not posted till now because I always feel like I can't put down in words exactly how I'm feeling, without sounding like an idiot.
I just don't like it. Cant exactly put my finger on why, maybe it's the fact you can get a good guitar for cheap without...
Big thumbs up for the SD Jazz in the neck! Excellent pickup. The Custom 5 (sh-14) is one of the few I have never used, But a 59' with more output cant be a bad thing..
I've got the same knob and "audio level" face plate! Came off a stereo power amp from the mid 70's, can't remember which🤪 always saved it for something better than what I was working on at the time..
Cool setup! Couple ?'s:
How much does that board and case weigh all together? Doesn't look too bad.
Is this all you would personally use? Do you just plug into the house, or bring cabs and power amps as well?
It's a whole theory. Not really something that can be explained in a few posts, though I'm sure someone could. It includes the data sheets, understanding transistor function and biasing, and how everything interacts. And Math! Math is the language of electronics. In DIY, unfortunately, there's...
Edit: sleep posting
Edit 2: you know the first and second stage in a Bluesdriver is an "operational amplifier". Clones usually just sub a TL072..
Just thought it was interesting..
Do you have positive DC going to ground? -9vdc is your VCC (common collector voltage)..
It will work both ways, i.e, with a negative ground, just make sure you observe the correct polarities on, yup, transistors and electrolytics..
Just had a new enclosure tonight with a piece of carbide, I guess from the end of the tap, broke off inside one hole. Luckily, I had enough thread to get the lid screw started, so I tightened it down to crunch up the little s.o.b..
