    Aion PCB's

3PDTs are about the hardest part of a pedal to desolder (I’ve done it, begrudgingly, and my success rate is not 100% in that department). Since you can’t just replace the breakout board with another one (side note - is it possible to get a replacement breakout board for an AionFX project?)...

    Aion PCB's

My bigger issue with the breakout boards is that sometimes essential chunks of the circuit end up on that breakout board (lots of times it's only the polarity protection but for example on the Elysium it's actually four resistors inside the circuit). So circuit-in and circuit-out are on the...

    Effects Layout Lilliput (Smallsound/Bigsound Mini)

On the EffectsLayouts board, the bias knob works backward from the original pedal, and actually all of the controls are mirrored from the original - bass and gain are on the right, volume and treble are on the left. Interesting choice.

Can you omit the spdt slide switch from the Tommy III

If you have Amazon Prime and need way too many of them, there's these https://www.amazon.com/Position-Breadboard-Electronic-Miniature-SlideSwitch/dp/B09R43HCY3/ref=sr_1_3?crid=15JDH9HJW3BZO&keywords=spdt+slide&qid=1699376831&sprefix=spdt+sli%2Caps%2C139&sr=8-3 Bought a bag a while back because...

NSFW What's up with the buffers in cornish designs?

The DL4mkII does have options for true-bypass and analog dry-through that might be worth trying

Loud vs traditional (low volume) bluesbreaker

That’s where getting good at probing gets useful, you can find where in the circuit it’s behaving unexpectedly and you can work backward from there

Adding a final gain stage to Pauper?

No real thoughts on the matter (I mean, beyond the obvious thought that an op-amp boost is gonna cost more than a transistor boost, but depending on how it’s tuned should have a more linear response), just wanted to toss out a few more examples: The Glory Hole (Morning Glory) circuit went the...

NSFW What's up with the buffers in cornish designs?

Look, 18V is just *better* when it comes from a Rube Goldberg machine of rectifiers and regulators. They’re fancier volts. Higher-headroom volts.

NSFW What's up with the buffers in cornish designs?

In other words, “no, it doesn’t affect the sound, but I refuse to admit it. Here’s a bunch of magic word bullshit that doesn’t correlate with reality. Please don’t look into it any further.”

Loud vs traditional (low volume) bluesbreaker

Just noticed that in your original pic, looks like R6 is hooked to a switch? What’s going on there? That’s a gain setting resistor for that op-amp stage and could definitely affect output volume.

Loud vs traditional (low volume) bluesbreaker

Then assuming you didn’t make any errors, one of the parts in the Musikding build is either way out of spec or failing (in a way that you like). Two identical circuits should sound identical, so clearly they’re not identical in a way that you can tell visually. So yeah, I’m with @jwin615 start...

Loud vs traditional (low volume) bluesbreaker

Which, as you’ve noted is *very* unusual for a BB circuit. This makes me think that you may have some wrong values on your Musikding build (“wrong” as in they don’t match the schematic - but if it improved the sound and functionality to your ears, clearly not “wrong” as in “bad”). Have you...

    Fuzz War V1 Question (Transister-related)…

I mean, EQD used to be a pretty punk rock pedal company too, but the insides of an OG Hoof looks *way* cleaner (and, one assumes as a result, serviceable) than that

    Fuzz War V1 Question (Transister-related)…

Not gonna lie like just as a regular pedal buyer without any knowledge of what goes into making pedals, if I popped the back off of a pedal from a company that proudly claims “Every effect pedal we build features sturdy construction to survive even your loudest and most energetic live...

Any interesting or cool mods to the Dwarven Hammer PCB? (Precision Drive clone)

Here’s an idea for a mod - the OG circuit has a noise gate, probably THAT based, that the PPCB board omitted. What about adding the JSX noise gate somewhere in the circuit? It’s small enough (a pot and two diodes) that it’d be easy to add with minimal modding to the board (you’d probably need...

NSFW What's up with the buffers in cornish designs?

This idea actually makes for a decent design starting point - if you limit the gain of almost any gain circuit to unity (or thereabouts, to make up for perceived volume changes due to EQ changes), you’ve created a buffer. So if there’s a boost or overdrive you particularly like the sound of...
