Particle Accelerator mods: any filter values recommended?

I couldn't help myself but to check the different values so here are the pics, C9 different values. I am also considering using a different mid pot on my next build, using a 20k would give you a small gain boost. I might try a B20k pot for Mid next time EDIT: The flat tone stack response is...

Particle Accelerator mods: any filter values recommended?

You could go a lot lower as well, on Marshall JCM800's the lead input would use a 0.68uF capacitor in a similar position. I think I ran 2 wires to a switch on mine so I could select different capacitors to give me more tones, I can't remember what values I used.

    King Nothing, TB no sound?

My limit on SMD is 1206 size, and normal SOIC-8 size for Op Amps. I did one PCB as a front panel for an amp and I placed tiny SMD LED's under the knobs so they would glow, that looked fairly nice but a bit fiddly to make. (SMD pinheader on the inside for connections) I think these days it would...

    King Nothing, TB no sound?

That small PCB is an adapter PCB so you can mount SMD components onto TH PCB's. It looks like there is a MMBFJ201 SMD transistor mounted on it, it also looks like the legs are standard SIP pins. Some people sell the PCB bare and others will sell them with a MMBFJ201 already mounted. Tayda has...

    King Nothing, TB no sound?

I think the problem is in the switch itself, but I have been wrong in the past. I would replace the switch but if I was you I would check it with a meter first before doing anything.

This is the signal path to the switch. Try placing a jumper between 1 and 2 on the switch when you have it in bypass mode. The signal has to come to terminal 1 and 6 of the Switch PCB or it would not work in normal mode.

    King Nothing, TB no sound?

The only thing I can think of is a bad contact in the stomp switch, because it works when the effect is on proves there is a signal going into and leaving the stomp switch. On bypass the contact should be closed on the top left terminal to the middle left terminal on the switch. (looking at the...

Bathtub Reverb Accu-Bell Effector Upgrade Project

Think of them as 2 separate volume controls working in opposite directions, except one goes from 0-10 and the other from 10-0. The difference is that you don't transfer from one pot to the other until they are both at full volume, when one pot goes to full volume the other pot starts to decrease...

Bathtub Reverb Accu-Bell Effector Upgrade Project

Are you familiar with the MN taper pots ? they are dual pots where both are at full output at 12 a'clock. One track starts at 0% and goes to 100% at 12 a'clock and stays at 100% from 12'clock to 5 a'clock. The other track starts at 100% and stays at 100% till 12 a'clock and then it drops to 0%...

Bathtub Reverb Accu-Bell Effector Upgrade Project

Well hells bells SamulG, you really screwed me over with this one, I can't stop thinking about what I could stick in there instead of the BTDR2. I am really gonna have to do some measuring so I can determine what I can stick in there, I think the first triode stage has a voltage gain of 2.44 and...

Bathtub Reverb Accu-Bell Effector Upgrade Project

I would just try to wire the Effector module to the same place that the BTDR2 module was connected to, and hope I don't see any magic smoke. I would change the L7805 to a L7806 and use that for powering the ABE, just connect the In, out1+, out2+, +6V and ground at the terminals for the BTDR2...

Steddi, Go! - simple tube D.I.

The first thing I was told when I started my Electrical apprenticeship in the late 1970's was that there are no stupid questions, only stupid mistakes. If you are not sure then ask all you want because even a small mistake can be your last when you play with electricity, it is not nice when your...

So there wont be any really colourful local clothing that would grab the girls attention ? No local markets you might have to walk through with the girls ? If I was going where I think you are going I would bring a spare suitcase for stuff that I would end up buying, never mind what young (and...

Pedal Design - From PCB to Finished Enclosure

Take a look at what Nathan from C2CE has done for his PCB's he sells, he has provided drill files and paint files for DIY'ers so they can get a professional finish on his DIY builds. The drill and paint files are for Tayda electronics but any good manufacturer could use them to drill and paint...

    Back In Stock Updates

Have a great holiday Nathan and the Sushi clan, I have been wondering about getting some C2CE PCB's so you get some more pocket money for your holiday. If you take them camping there won't be any shops for the girls to look in, those shops can be a wallet killer.

    The MOD Squad

Bath Tub Reverb- SamuelG did a very nice mod to his Bath Tub pedal by adding a normal/deep/bass switch to his build. All it involves is to add more capacitance to C2 to allow more deep frequencies through, he did this by installing C2 and leaving the legs long enough to add some wires to run to...

    The MOD Squad

This might be one mod on the BassDude that not many have thought of, change a few values on some components and add a second Bright cap on top of R12 and you have a Marshall JTM45 preamp, of course the JTM45 has 2 channels, one with and one without Bright caps so place both caps on a switch if...

    The MOD Squad

The next mod I am going to show is more about what can be done to the BassDude, I think I only placed the Bright cap on a switch on my first BassDude. When we look at the Bassdude it becomes obvious it is a copy of an earlier Bassman, the Bassman 5D6-A and the 5E6 both match the BassDude...

Nobelium - tube bass preamp project

When I do the pots and switches I always place them on the PCB and then I carefully line it up with the box and then screw the pots and switches down hard before I solder the pots and switches. You need to have the pots and switches mounted in the box before you solder them in, sometimes I put a...

    The MOD Squad

The Next has to be the Ambassador circuit itself, if you want to use it for Bass I would make the following changes. Cathode bypass capacitors C11 C12 C13 need to be 22uF but 47uF is ok as well if you play a 5 string. Coupling capacitors C7 and C8 I would change to 47nF Remove the bright caps C5...
