What is in the signal path?

Thanks for responding. My intuition was not that pulldown resistors would be considered to be in the signal path, so I have learned something. When I saw values like 1MΩ and higher, I just assumed that there wouldn't be a lot of AC current going through them at 9.1V. I still have a lot to learn.

What is in the signal path?

Heh. No, I'm basically saying I want to understand the electronics and not get bogged down in a discussion that we've all seen hashed out on the Gear Page until we're thoroughly and permanently nauseated. I was trying to head that off. Such is the Internet.

What is in the signal path?

Ah, thanks. I didn't realize it was so simple. Yeah, I've heard some very smart people make that point, including the Psionic guy, and it does stand to reason. My chief concern in regard to resistor composition is raising the noise floor with carbon comp or carbon film. Maybe I'd be better off...

What is in the signal path?

Ignoring the questions of whether mojo parts are worth the money or whether I'd actually discern a difference without an oscilloscope, one of the hundred projects simmering on my back burner is making a top-notch Red Snapper in terms of sound quality. I normally throw 1% metal-film resistors in...

All right, there was a real-life audible chuckle from me on that one.

Ha. I hope you're recovering from your "minor surgery". I've had a couple of those that, while minor for the surgeons, were well into the moderate range for the soreness in recovery. In the immortal words of Steve Goodman, "It's not hard to get along with somebody else's troubles."

Triad Overdrive (JHS 3 series OD / HAO Rumble MOD)

Well, I took inspiration from your photo and tried to achieve a similar effect with the one I'll button up tomorrow. I didn't have the benefit of this knowledge then, but I was reasonably satisfied for a first attempt at that.

Nah, man, you have an artist's eye that really works with ptp. There's something steampunk-esque about your circuits that is really cool. You can almost see a little flickering incandescent bulb swinging on a chain in the back of the box.

What amplifiers do you like for testing how a pedal design/modification sounds?

SF Champ. If it doesn't sound good on that, I don't bother checking it with anything else. I'm digging that headphone idea, though. Plus, it will give me an excuse to build a headphone amp. Any circuit/board recommendations are welcomed and encouraged.

    King of Pwn

Behold, the King of Pwn ... simultaneous nods to Mike Piera, Eric Cartman, and Andy Summers. (Sting is a douche bag. His solo music is bad, and you should feel bad if you like it.*) It's a dual overdrive with a Mesa Grid Slammer circuit feeding a Greer Lightspeed circuit. I didn't bother with...

I ptp'ed together Waylon McPherson's latest project on YouTube. It was nerve-wracking, and of course when I was done and it worked, I saw about 20 ways to improve it... if I only had the fortitude. I do like the aesthetic of ptp so much that I will likely try it again, after I recover...

Triad Overdrive (JHS 3 series OD / HAO Rumble MOD)

Man, nice and tidy. I particularly appreciate the layout of the jack wiring. Please share your secret for getting the curves in board-to-footswitch bus wires so neat and match-y.

    Thumbucker Compressor (ValveWizard Engineers Thumb)

Ha! On my phone, it looks like there's overspray on the inside, most notably near the input jack. I figured it was a good DIY job. I also thought you had lightly relicked the edges before you clear coated the box. I'm still on my phone, but now that I know it's powder coat, I'm just seeing...

    MadBean Trash Compactor

I've got a Trash Compactor in the bullpen that's about to get the call. I wanted to see what people were saying about the build. Now I see this and I just don't see the point in even trying. My mind will always compare it to this, and I'm going to know how inferior my product is. Does your...
