    3AX31C Germanium gain

Its gonna be a multi-device tester using the RG keen method. Basically...pop in four different devices. Power em up, let em stabilize. Test leakage on one, flip a switch to test gain. Remove, replace, let that one stabilize as you move on to the next device in the line. Should make testing...

Boutique Pedal Manufacturers Are Feeling the Tariff Pinch

Honestly: I think part of the problem is that humans are predictably irrational. Advertisers and propogandists have known this for near on a century. Pluck the right strings and you can get the majority of folks to buy whatever it is that you're selling. In that regard: human beings are...

    3AX31C Germanium gain

Whelp, I gave this specific variety a shot recently (3ax31c). Got 100 of em. The quick and dirty tc-1 test is promising. Good gain, between 60-130 from what I've seen so far, under 300mA (though this is pretty often inaccurate on the TC-1). We'll see how they do once I get my mega-tester built.

Fuzz Face - Does transistor selection really matter?

Watch with the audio probes on that one.

Building for a pedal for tour

There is a balance between serviceability and robustness of the build. As illustrated by the fact that one could, in fact, simply epoxy the whole damned thing as long as one accounted for the spring movement of jacks and the space requires for plugs. But even then, certain devices might suffer...

Boutique Pedal Manufacturers Are Feeling the Tariff Pinch

We're generally pretty good here at keeping the politics talk at a slight simmer. Sometimes it boils over. Which, again, is a result of the fires that are stoked by those that benefit from the flames. Politicians do this because it makes politics easy: you never have to worry about the impact...

Boutique Pedal Manufacturers Are Feeling the Tariff Pinch

See...this is the thing. Yeah, it's gotten ridiculous. It's become a spectacle: the sort of thing where each team has a firmly held conviction that their team is right and good and won't hear a damned thing about their guy that is unbecoming or brings their character or judgement into...

    3AX31C Germanium gain

I'm talking strictly about the "Motorola" "AC128"s. And I'm probably losing my place in the conversation. It's cool. IGNORE ME!

Wah Inductors. No hype. Just measurements.

All good points. My stuff is just aping what works in a wah pedal. If your electrical and temperature considerations are too far outside of that then you're gonna have a bad time.

Wah Inductors. No hype. Just measurements.

Any of the commercially available inductors will work for this purpose: even the ones that are 4 pin only tend to use two of the four. The only rub is the value. Most of the commercially available wah inductors are gonna veer closer to 600mH. The ME-6 is a great value, but its also in the...

    20 ГT309Б Ge Transistors Tested

Seeing prices nowadays on these little things is nuts. I bought a box of 200 a year ago for like...110 dollars. Cheappppppp.

    3AX31C Germanium gain

I mean, it's a TO-5. Which, most of the time, that particular transistor tends to be in a TO-1. At least as far as I've seen. Chinese transistors tend to be in different packages. I dunno...I doubt these are new production. Mostly because I don't see anything with new production germanium...

    3AX31C Germanium gain

I mean, either that or they soldered a resistor in parallel with the emitter and collector. I'm not even convinced that these things are *transistors*, truth told.

Which transistor type provide the highest gain: BJT, JFET or MOSFET?

My stuff gets pretty smutty on my onlyfans.

Which transistor type provide the highest gain: BJT, JFET or MOSFET?

Stickman bang rocks. I'm wrapping my head round this little guy. And I'm enjoying the pain. I'm ultimately not super well versed in EE, though. Some of the terminology goes a little over my head. Like...Transconductance. The ability for a device to convert voltage into current. New vocab...

    General capacitor questions

Ya know, I'm kinda skeptical about this train of thought. Cause there's really three options here. A) the golden eared fellow specifically picked the inferior (as defined by its operation vs what one would define as an "ideal") capacitor because unicorn farts smell like the finest vintage wine...

Boutique Pedal Manufacturers Are Feeling the Tariff Pinch

You know what's fun about semiconductor manufacturing... We've got a bunch of Superfund sites here in silicon valley. The old Fairchild semiconductor manufacturing facilities were here. Where a bunch of Google buildings currently are, in fact. I've worked in a bunch of those buildings over...

Confused with the 5 way rotary switch

How you looking to wire it up? IIRC, PRS did some fancy shit with their 5 way. You looking for more traditional strat-style switching?

Please explain rotary switch wiring to me

2p3T: Two poles. Each pole has four terminals. One is the common, which connects to the other three. The other three are "connects to common in position 1", "connects to common in position 2", and "connects to common in position 3" respectively. The poles do not directly interact, they're...
