    Storage Questions

I use the envelopes they came in, or put them in similar ones, and file them in a long narrow box. Adding an odd value to a decade just goes with the flow and it's all good. Same with ceramic and film capacitors.

Me either, but I know what the name of my next prog metal band is going to be!

X7R MLCC - R U scared of them? Should I be? Should we all?

I take no offense at that! IMHO the interesting part is the discussion that ensued. FWIW Joe also posted a listening test on his site. I trust his ear the way I trust James Hoffmann's palate, and they both tend to argue that some distinctions don't amount to a difference in the outcome. Back on...

X7R MLCC - R U scared of them? Should I be? Should we all?

Nothing to add on the STEM side, but Joe Gore (a musician with a formidable ear) reported out a test of capacitors several years back, on freestompboxes.org. It was an interesting discussion of interesting data. Here's the link--I think you need to be logged in...

Don't be surprised if the price of Germanium transistors and diodes goes up

IMHO it's probably not cause for concern yet--last package I orderd from alexer1 took that long. With Russia's indiscriminate attacks on civilian infrastructure, it'll happen. Also, one UA seller (Nevidomuj, I think) sent stuff in bulk to a Minnesota address, where it shipped from. USPS has...

    Transistor or diode??

The TC-1 should have a built in google search feature :p

    Transistor or diode??

Near-faulty-to-fully-borked transistors will do that. Interesting Vfs though? Maybe try warming it up with body heat and see if it reads as transistor--it would at least clue as to which lead is what. In any case, it probably belongs in the overflowing bin of "these dead transistors will work...

    Baritone Brothers....got (a new) question....

I like to use this string tension calculator: https://rodrigocfd.github.io/string-tension-calc/ It uses the string data from D'Addario and probably extrapolates it to the other brands. My LGS uses EB for singles and I consider them close enough to D'Addario for it to not matter. I get the...

That's basically what I use (1.5 & 9mm) except for pots and switches, which need to be bigger.

Are you also changing height? It does width and height separately, in order to make oval/oblong pads.

    Lab Rat build!

Only one way to find out! If Ge Vf is around .3v, and a red LED is around 1.8V, it's still pretty asymmetrical with .6V against 1.8V. If you haven't seen this video from Arito Suzuki, it does a nice job of demonstrating it in soft clipping mode. I would expect the differences to be more...

    Lab Rat build!

Somebody correct me, but isn't the asymmetry in asymmetrical diodes just about the total Vf in each direction? Ge diodes will have their distinctive character of course. I would expect that 2 series germaniums would add up to around a third the Vf of a red LED. It would be interesting to look...

JLCPCB has a Gerber viewer once you upload the zip file. There are a few (mostly other board fabs) among the top google results for "gerber viewer."

If you haven't found it already, you can right-click on a pad, choose Pad Properties, Type/Dimensions tab, and uncheck Use Pattern's Standard Pad Properties. The window will change to let you adjust the dimensions of the pad and the hole. You can even apply it to all of the pads. It's a killer...

    Baritone Brothers....got (a new) question....

IMHO a fixed tele bridge is nice to have with a baritone, because you can get a little more range for intonating when you want to change tuning/gauge.
