SOLVED Hiss with dual drive engaged

I built a KoT clone from BYOC (The Royal Flush - although I call mine the King of Turtles 🐢). I'm wondering if this is just a common thing with overdrives. When each side is engaged in it's own, it's quiet, but when both are engaged, there's a noticeable hiss (it's louder in real life than on...

SOLVED AB Switch hums only with LEDs

Update... I removed the grounding wire and isolated the output jack with plastic washers, but it still was making noise. After looking and prodding, I found a solution. I noticed that when the LED wire was touching the enclosure, the sound disappeared, so I added this grounding wire: So my...

SOLVED AB Switch hums only with LEDs

My issue is that it sits on my pedal board so it will be always plugged in. I'm guessing the battery will run out quickly if plugged in 24/7...?

SOLVED AB Switch hums only with LEDs

So I'm realizing how little I know about grounding...lol. I'm also getting a bit lost because what's labeled as "input" on the diagram is my output, as I'm using it to switch between two guitars using the same amp. Here's some background. I'm using a the Rockboard ISO Supply to power my...

SOLVED AB Switch hums only with LEDs

I'm not sure I understand what you mean (I'm fairly new to all this...). What do you mean by an "isolated" Jack?

SOLVED AB Switch hums only with LEDs

I built an AB switcher for my board, so I can plug two guitars in, and switch between them on stage. The build works great. It is silent if I don't plug the pedal in. However, I wanted to switch between two LEDs, and when I plug the pedal in, there is a slight hum that isn't there when it's not...

No matter what you do, you *must* keep that label. It's epic!

SOLVED BYOC KoT issue... Only one side working

I wanted to post a picture of the final product, now that my daughter finished the artwork. (In case anyone cares...lol) Behold my KoT (King of Turtles) 😁 Thanks again to everyone who helped me figure this out!

SOLVED BYOC KoT issue... Only one side working

Sorry to hear! Hopefully mine keeps working. With BYOC out of business, I'm going to start building from scratch. They were a great intro, and now I'm moving on to breadboarding and building my own!

SOLVED BYOC KoT issue... Only one side working

Problem solved!! 🥳🥳🥳 I went and checked all the continuity that everyone suggested. I cleaned up some connections, but it seems like the major problem was the wire for lug 8... I removed the wire and found the wire itself lacked continuity. Changed the wire, out everything back in, and voilà...

SOLVED BYOC KoT issue... Only one side working

Thanks Nic. I checked continuity on those pins and they are all good. Jumper is fine too 🙁

SOLVED BYOC KoT issue... Only one side working

Hi everyone, I recently built a KoT clone from BYOC, but there are some strange things happening: - I have no guitar signal on bypass. - The"left" side (right side of the PCB in the photo) works fine. - The "right" side, when engaged also had no signal, although the led goes on. -...

SOLVED Simple boost not working on breadboard (LPB-1 and Shur's Dooster Booster)

First off, thanks for replying. I'm hoping these forums are going to be useful as I get into this world of circuitry! So the colours in my picture must not be showing well... What you're seeing as white is grey or sometimes even orange... But your reply encouraged me to go back and recheck all...

SOLVED Simple boost not working on breadboard (LPB-1 and Shur's Dooster Booster)

Brand New member here 😁 I've been working with Sascha Surh's book and tried to make this boost: Except when I breadboard it, I get no sound. I've checked all my parts, and even rebuilt it, but still no sound. Pot has no effect. I thought maybe I was misunderstanding some fundamentals, so I...
