ROG Supreaux Deux: "Tui Overdrive" (w/Gerber)

Wow awesome job and thanks for sharing the gerber. I built one several years back and liked it, but let it go, might have to build up another. Looks really good. Maybe you figured by now, whenever pedal circuits use SPST, usually they just use an SPDT and don’t connect one of the lugs

New and improved circuit, any criticism appreciated

you won’t have much gain. Bring R4 down a lot, like 10k or even lower. Experiment with C3 for the bass cut, probably in the 22n to 100n range depending on what R you use. The BM tone circuit cuts a lot of volume. You may find you want an extra gains stage, either op amp (since you have an...

    Critique my circuit

You aren’t cutting any bass before clipping. This can sound flubby and mushy. (Although you might find something you like). Many pedals cut bass by reducing C3. Cutoff frequency = 1/(2piRC). Where R is R5 plus RV1. Since RV1 is changing, it’s not an ideal spot to control the frequency. You...

Switch simulator - bypassing pedal auto power-on state

That’s a nice idea. I wouldn’t know how to make the circuit for the 555. For this specific project I don’t mind helping with the attiny. But yeah would be nice to make it easier to use

Switch simulator - bypassing pedal auto power-on state

Here's the layout drawn in DIYLC in case anyone in the future wants to see the idea.

Switch simulator - bypassing pedal auto power-on state

No problem at all. If you can shove a stripboard into the battery compartment, you could probably do this quite easily. I use ATTINY85 chips a lot (with through hole pins for perf or strip board). It's like an arduino for when you only need 6 or less input/output pins. The coding is...

Pedal to 'Blackface' a Tweed Deluxe

Awesome, I've just now got my chassis up and running, first amp build from scratch. Good info to see here. The bass is huge, I'm probably also gonna mod to tame it. Though, I'm running through my Valve Jr 12" cab, so I'll wait till I have the speaker and cab for the 5e3 before making any...

    Mod Question Golden Falk

A lot of pedals cut bass before clipping. This is the most tried and true way to tighten things up. C13 would be after all the clipping so I wouldn’t start there. I’m not sure where most of the clipping occurs, if at Q5, then reducing C11 would help. (Like a lot, I’d start at 4.7n or even...

Switch simulator - bypassing pedal auto power-on state

That’s a cool idea. The circuit looks a bit odd to me, in that when the micro-sw pin is high and the physical switch is pressed (ground) the micro will be pushing out 50mA (5v / 100ohms). Whereas the datasheet says the max is 40mA per output pin. I wonder if that resistor could be increased...

Need help finding a bass preamp to build

I did not like the OBD-3. I worked with a bass player to audition some mods and here’s what we ended up with. I think several of these ideas came from somewhere online, maybe some from Wampler. The Chuck D Bones bass Klon rocks, no changes.

On the Arachnid PCB, do the 914's have to be 914's?

Ah. Yeah it’s confusing, idk. Since it’s in the Max Ratings section, I take that to be the max you can feed pin 1-2 without damaging the chip. If AVDD is 3.3V, make sure the signal in doesn’t go past 3.8v. A friend had an EQD Afterneath that was acting up, sometimes worked fine, other times no...

On the Arachnid PCB, do the 914's have to be 914's?

(3.3V - 1.8v ) / 100k = 0.015mA per LED, right? Where do you see 0.5v as the threshold for the digital inputs on pins 16-18?

On the Arachnid PCB, do the 914's have to be 914's?

On the other hand, the 100ks would act as the LED resistors, making the current draw very low. The fv-1 pins themselves should have very high impedance. The LEDs would probably be quite dim. There is a relationship (datasheet graph) between forward current and forward voltage, so maybe with...

On the Arachnid PCB, do the 914's have to be 914's?

Hmm seems like it may not work, not sure. Should be able to try it… Red LEDs are typically around 1.8v forward voltage, compared to around 0.5-0.7 for the 914s. If you drop 3.3V by 1.8v, you get less than half of 3.3, and I’d expect the fv-1 inputs to go high or low compared to the halfway...

    True Bypass work?

Pedalpcb is the same except link 1-8 to ground the pcb input in bypass. Ori managed a scheme where both the pcb in and out are grounded, interesting. I’ve never encountered and issue with the pedalpcb way

    Emu Amp Sim - C101 - 220u - minimum voltage?

These are power supply filtering. Lots of pedals use 100u from 9v to gnd and 47u from Vref to gnd, so that would probably be fine here

9V Adapter Rehouse with Ground Switch

Recently I've been using more headphone setup, either using the Strymon Iridium or the Spark Neo (which I love for the convenience). One issue is that if I'm testing pedals with a 9V wall wart adapter, not my regular pedalboard and not connected to the Amp, I have no connection to Ground. This...
