    This is indeed legit

    Legit LM308n ?

I must be incorrect, but I think the one in the right is a LM3080, like a CA3080. Both are legit

Very high soldering temperatures and components/boards

Hey man! No hard feelings. First of all, thanks a lot for the compliments, I’ve been following your builds here for years and really like how you go about the pedals and the way you contribute to the forum (I must say I was really surprised by the previous answer)… everyone goes thru bad days or...

Very high soldering temperatures and components/boards

I know I used an anecdotal reference, but we're on a forum, not exactly an academic environment. The OP asked about soldering temperature, and I answered EXACTLY the question in the thread title. Besides, DIY implies experimentation, trial, and error. It's all part of the process. But your...

Very high soldering temperatures and components/boards

It translates as “search videos on good soldering technique before soldering, specially more complicated projects and don’t overthink the overheating the components part”. I didn’t quote his original post directly, and my comment was about the overall stuff. That was a really uncalled animosity...

Very high soldering temperatures and components/boards

I have been soldering with my Hakko at maximum temperature for YEARS, and always did with any soldering station. I have soldered hundreds of germanium transistors, MN3007, MN3005, digital stuff, everything… never damaged a single component. Use good solder, work your soldering technique, use...

    Octagon Tycobrahe clone

One more! This time with a switch to defeat the octave. Great enclosure by @mwpedalparts-maggie! Sounds really good, I went with a combo of BC109c and I forgot the other transistor, I think it’s a 2N2907.

I don't remember where I got this schematic.

I can’t tell where you got it from, but I’m pretty sure the TS10 doesn’t have the option to choose LEDs as clippers 😂. I have an original TS10 on hand, I’ll check the schematics for you

Mother FCKR (Ram’s Head Big Muff repro)

Thanks man! I get mine from Brazilian sellers that scavenge through old electronics shop stocks and from @mwpedalparts-maggie, she carries lots of values for a great price

Mother FCKR (Ram’s Head Big Muff repro)

It’s a real shame, but I really wanted to use the original layout! And until recently I didn’t know that either hahaha, a fellow Brazilian got 2 still sealed packages of 1000 of those diodes, I think the brand is Intl!

Mother FCKR (Ram’s Head Big Muff repro)

Went full mojo on this: carbon comp resistors, tropical fish capacitors (and a MKT, which was the line that replaced Tropical Fish), 70s German made 1N4148, epoxy dot ME4003 and a repro enclosure from our own @mwpedalparts-maggie. Sounds amazing!

    Collateral FX Collatecast

Thank you man! In the past I have made some without the transformer (and also Dylan’s Narrowcaster) and I can agree that the transformer has a neglectible influence on sound, but the customer asked for a full clone, so a full clone it is 👌😂

    Collateral FX Collatecast

Built this one for Brazilian guitarist Sergio Buss, who played guitar with Steve Vai for years! Figured out the layout using some pictures from the web, but had to debug the pedal for hours, until I found out the 2 central pins of the transformers should be isolated from the rest of the circuit...

Building for a pedal for tour

Other thing to consider (that goes somewhat along the modular stuff): use offboard wiring for the 3pdt and jacks, if you go all onboard your PCB will eventually fail on the points of most mechanical stress. Using offboard wiring for these parts leaves the mechanical stress just for the part...

Building for a pedal for tour

Don’t use sockets man, the opamps/transistors WILL eventually get loose. I’ve been building pedals professionally for more than 15 years and I worked for a long time with repairs and I have seen this happen a lot.
