    1044scpa vs 7662CP vs 7660

Here's a link from a few years ago where somebody looked into the charge pump noise and tried a lot of stuff and the extra filter caps killed the high frequency ripple: Link

    1044scpa vs 7662CP vs 7660

Hello, if you got charge pump whine I suggest to put some 470nF MLCC caps at the input and the output(s) of the charge pump to ground. Works every time for me. Have a look at the aion Straylight and Ember. That's where I first saw people doing it.

Queen Brian May Fans - Deacy Pedal Project

I think I know what pedal you're referring to. I wouldn't buy it. It's bland and boring.

    Median Compressor trim pot

Hi all, I've seen quite a few build reports on the Median, which makes me want to get one myself. Musikding has them in store, so I'm going to order one soon. I'm wondering if the original really had a trim pot or if it had a resistor instead. So, more of a question for Robert. If there was a...

I'll have a look at the vero tomorrow. Just hold off for a day or two :)

This Week on the Breadboard: BJFe Arctic White Fuzz

Hello @gtfields13 I found some purple diffused LEDs in the web shop I usually use. Next time I order something I'll add some. They also have violet diffused LEDs, so I'm hoping purple will really be purple.

This Week on the Breadboard: BJFe Arctic White Fuzz

Hi all, Arrived late to the party. Built it and it's fantastic! Thanks for sharing CB! The LED is sadly not purple, but violet. It's a bit of a bummer, but I didn't find purple in my local shop. Lots of space :) How does it sound? It sounds great! I don't have many fuzzes, so I can only...

Which transistor type provide the highest gain: BJT, JFET or MOSFET?

BJT > JFET > MOSFET is what I'd say after a quick interwebs searcheroo.

    SOLVED Sabbath Distortion fizz only

If you have another medium gain BJT NPN lying around, like a 2N2222 (same pinout as BC184) you could try that instead. Maybe put it in a socket. Edit: Here're some voltage readings from mine if you're interested: link

    Solar Chug lite wiring question

Sure it should work in your test box without the switch. If you take the cable you got soldered to Switch 3 (on the right side of the vero!) and connect it to the cable that you got soldered to Switch 2 and then connect the jacks and power the fx should work.

    Solar Chug lite wiring question

On the vero on the left side, where it says Switch 3, it should read Switch 1. That's the buffer for the bypass. Switch 2 is the output that ends up on the output jack tip. Switch 3 is the effect output. So when you hit the stomp switch you switch between the buffer and the effect. In the...

Sabbra Caddabra noisy until I run a buffer before it

Hi chork, I had a noisy Sabbra Cadabra until I changed my JFETs to ones with a higher VP. I had some with a VP of ~1.5V for Q2-Q4 in the pedal. I replaced them with some with VP of ~2,1V and that solved the problem. Maybe you have them in sockets and a few more lying around to try this. I think...

    SOLVED Testing components help

I just checked and made a few measurements. It looks like yours, the model is T-7 though. I got it maybe 2 years ago. Never calibrated it I think. Below some measurements against the DMM for comparison. They're not too far away from each other. When in doubt I'd go with what my DMM says...

    SOLVED Testing components help

I have a similar tester. It's not as exact as my DMM. It only gives ballpark numbers. But it's - cheap (20 bucks) - super easy to use - it's pretty fast So usually I prefer it over the DMM for pedal building. When I need precise measurements I switch to my DMM. If you ever buy a DMM, get one...

High-pitched whine in Echoplex Bias & Katana dual pedal vero build

You're not providing links to schematics, so not sure what you built there. But if it's charge pump whine I suggest to look at the Aion Ember distortion. That was the first DIY pedal where I didn't have the whiny interaction between different charge pump pedals. I think because Aion placed 470nF...
