It looks like your board is before Robert added a low pass filter to the terrarium circuit (see this thread) following an unfortunate update to the Daisy Seed hardware. Depending on your seed’s hardware revision, you might want to add a LP filter as well. [corrected below!] It’s frustrating that...
Needs a gut shot!
I recently built one of these too and was really surprised how much I like it, especially in front of other drives. Love that it can switch from mid boost to cocked wah territory and the blend knob is super helpful.
Green ringer is always a great option - https://www.pedalpcb.com/product/squidward/
Fits comfortably in a 1590a so I’d imagine a zyn can would be doable.
I didn’t even think to mention it earlier, but the reverb built into the UA Dream is very nice. I usually keep it at 2 or 3 and never really notice it, which is kinda my benchmark for “realistic” reverb effects, heh.
I haven't ordered it yet, so this is just my interpretation of the Aion build docs, but here's mine. It's unfortunately rotated 180 degrees from yours. The only difference I see right off the bat is the in/out/9v jacks are a bit lower on mine. I think that was a guesstimate that erred on the...
The eternal quest. The only reverb I use regularly is the stock spring tank in my Princeton, set to ~2.5. It's honestly great for playing at home.
I've built a handful of DIY reverbs and don't really use any of them:
* Gravitation. Has a cool vibe but doesn't sound very "real" and I never use...
Very cool. The wavy finish on the harmonix is mesmerizing to look at.
What’s your assessment of the pickup simulator so far? Any lessons learned incorporating it into your circuit design? (I think there might be a thread on this but I can’t find it right now)
Based on this thread I recently picked up some 99% IPA with spray bottle and it's awesome. I've been taking my boards (pre-pots-n-switches) over to the utility sink and spray the bottom a few times, scrub with toothbrush, spray the toothbrush and shake it out, repeat a couple times. In general...
Really nice build as usual. The consistent arcs on your offboard wiring are ridiculously satisfying.
Having gone from nothing but a tubescreamer for 20 years to "I must build all the 'transparent' overdrives", I've come back around to really appreciating these classic designs for all the...
In an uncertain world, is there anything more reassuring than a @MichaelW compressor build report? Beautiful build as always. My only complaint is that you didn't post in time for me to add this project to my last PedalPCB order 🤣
Been a while, but I tried reversing C1 on mine and it fixed the popping problem. I confirmed that pin 7 was connected to the positive end of C1, then just flipped it around. Thank you for the eagle-eyed diagnosis, @Robert!
Nicely done! Can’t explain it, but I find top jack-equipped 1590Bs to be *so satisfying*. Looks like this one fit without having to increase the pedal’s “forehead” too much/at all. Nice.
Nice! I built one of these last year as well (need to do a build report!) and my experience was identical to yours. Getting that daughter board in there was a huge pain in the ass and mine pops as well. It’s actually nice to hear some corroboration. IIRC the relevant resistor is hidden behind...
