    Let's review footswitches.

Never seen the momentary on the far left before. Looks interesting. Got a link?

    Fuzzduster JFET Muff

Whew, those are some hot FETs! I gotta get me some 482s. I really dig the raunchiness from those clippers.

    Fuzzduster JFET Muff

I liked my design from Chuck's contest so much I got a PPCB Muffin board and got it all boxed up. The schematic is in the link, but the general idea is it's pretty much a Big Muff made over with all JFET transistors - including using them for the clipping diodes. The tone control is modified...

    What's on the workbench?

My guess is an LFO for an LED/LDR setup.

    Queen Bee Overdrive (KoT)

Beautiful build. Love the color and graphics are outstanding. It's so good, you should get her some fancier knobs!

This Week on the Breadboard - the Muff Bender Mk 1

Man. My first thought when I saw the contest post was a Ge sandwich in a JFET hoagie roll. Lookin pretty sweet. Any particular reason to use a BJT output buffer over another JFET?

    Random pix

I bet it's awesome. Agonized a bit about semi-hollow version but I got a good deal and no regrets. The Vela plays like a dream and sounds amazing. I'd been thinking about other pickup options before it arrived and I'm just going to leave it alone. Nothing to fix. Humbucker sounds great even when...

    Random pix

So, about this much, so far. Had to dig a trench into the yard for the dogs. Buuuut, the UPS guy was still able to deliver this: PRS Vela in Egyptian gold. Played one at Dave's Guitar Shop in Wisconsin about 6 years ago and never got it out of my head.

Who's down for some SMD layouts?

I've read reviews that say this machine pretty much requires mods out of the box. Mind telling more about your experience?

Who's down for some SMD layouts?

I use the same one. It's a lot easier than the magnified lamp I used for years.

Who's down for some SMD layouts?

Nice! You do that all with the little hot plate? You also use a hot air gun on top? Gotta link to paste?

Who's down for some SMD layouts?

I stick to 0805 on my layouts and 0204 for MELF resistors. 0603 is getting into my PIA zone.

Looking for Ideas on "EQ-less" overdrive pedals...

When you say 'trim the fat,' do you mean you want to save space or you want one foot switch to control the distortion and EQ together?

Who's down for some SMD layouts?

I'm pretty happy with my SMD system I've cooked up. Amazon has a lot of tool and gadgets for 'beading' and it's pretty perfect for SMD parts. Removing each one from the strip is the longest part, so I got little beading cups with screw-on lids. I pull the whole strip of parts into the cup at...

Who's down for some SMD layouts?

I'm down. Not too thrilled about having to use MLCC caps for everything, though. Another option I think would be cool would be a hybrid design, having JLCpcb pick and place most everything but the film caps, Ge didoes and other TBD parts people like to swap out or hand solder.

    What's on the workbench?

I was just thinking about the Raincoat yesterday - mainly that it could be a good home for Ge transistors.
