    Buddy's Building a Guitar...

Third coat, and I think this is as good as it's gonna get. Gonna hang her up for a few days to cure before starting my painting journey...

    Buddy's Building a Guitar...

Funny you mention it. I do have some conductive paint! Er, at least that's what the sign said when I bought it. The container reminds me of an old film cannister. It's on my list.

And the second coat. It's looking better. Hopefully third time's the charm. After that I'll reassess. I'll probably need to run out and get another can and if that's true, this project may just be on hold. I'm hoping that's not the case and my finish coat will be enough.

    Buddy's Building a Guitar...

Reading and watching YouTube, I've learned the best way to spray paint something is even, controlled passes and continuing the spray after you've reached the edge to avoid blasts of paint splatter. I've also learned first hand that its better with more, lighter coats. I will lose more paint from...

    Buddy's Building a Guitar...

So, here's my setup. I taped up the neck pocket with some masking tape. I want to have the least amount of paint go in as possible. If a tiny amount were to get in? Oh well. I can always scrape it out carefully with a knife or a light sanding. Next, I found a piece of scrap wood in my garage...

    Buddy's Building a Guitar...

First and foremost, super cool of you to reach out and offer your help! The paint job above looks really nice! Sadly, I'm going to say no thank you for two reasons. First, I'd really like to make this my project even though you'll do a better job of painting than I would with a rattle can. I...

    Buddy's Building a Guitar...

My wife asked me a month or two ago what I'd like to accomplish this year. I told her I'd like to finish paining my guitar. I've played this for a year and am pretty happy with it. It's intonated and the action is decent for my playing style. I've been itching to work on this since this past...

    What’s on *YOUR* workbench?

My workbench? Replacing a pickup selector switch on my Schecter Omen (think shreddy superstrat). Been meaning to do this for a while.

TUTORIAL Percolation Station - Harmonic Percolator

The diodes act as hard clippers and with R5 thrown in there the give asymmetric clipping. They don’t need to be matched.

Help with a strip board build

Run your iron down the tracks to clean up the solder bridges. That may be your problem.

How do YOU clean your boards?

IPA and a toothbrush will work just fine. Doing it once will give you decent results, but like OP said there is still some residue. Simply clean it again.

    What's your current headache?

Make some popcorn and watch the movie, I guess. At any company, everyone is important and everyone is replaceable. I hope it gets better for you.

    What's your current headache?

I'm at the point in my job where I'm starting to speak up to my manager that I'd like to do more, take on more responsibilities, or even a lateral move at my company. I'm just hoping this won't fall on deaf ears. Don't get me wrong: I'm grateful for the opportunity, the pay check, benefits, and...

    What's your current headache?

Anybody else feel like they're just bored all the time with their job but you can't quit cuz, you know, bills? That's where I'm at.

Don't forget to change your strings!

I've asked this in the past, but there are a lot of new faces around here. I had the day off yesterday for the US holiday and decided to clean all my guitars and change their strings. I don't look forward to doing this since it's time consuming and I'd rather be playing (took me an afternoon to...

    What's your current headache?

80/20 is when you truly want to enjoy your burger. 90/10 doesn't make me feel like crap afterwards and I tend to cook them more rare to keep the juices in.
