    What’s on *YOUR* workbench?

Thanks man! I slept a lot the last week, but unfortunately the only recreation I got was listening to some vinyl, I finished almost 40 pedals last week so I could take two weeks off to take dedicated care of my partner and my baby, and she is SO DAMN CUTE

Memory Girl - Madbean Prognosticator (Stereo Memory Man clone)

These are Philips MKT capacitors, 5mm pitch, but I “adjusted” the legs with a plier to make if fit the e-cap spacing. I think I bought the 1uf from eBay!

Memory Girl - Madbean Prognosticator (Stereo Memory Man clone)

What a fckn pedal to dial in. Soldered every component without a socket, but the damn CD4047 was dead 🫠. A few hours of head scratching and cursing and I got a nice sounding analog delay. I need to say it is pretty bright for a BBD pedal.

    SMD JFET soldering Demystified

For diodes, resistors a and transistors I do exactly this, do the “blob” method or sometimes I heat both sides quickly (with just one soldering iron) to make a component sit straight. For opamps and such I go with the hot air tool.

    SMD JFET soldering Demystified

Thanks man! I was never really pleased by any of the logos I used before that one ✌️

    SMD JFET soldering Demystified

I’m really glad you liked the video! Almost everything I know about pedal building, I learned on the internet, mostly from reading on forums and I learn a lot around here, on top of being inspired by so many beautiful builds and creative and knowledgeable people around here, so I feel it’s time...

    SMD JFET soldering Demystified

I always see people commenting around the forum that soldering SMD jfets is hard and frustrating. The truth is that it is really easy and quick, it just takes some practice. This is how I do it: The Brazilian accent is because I’m Brazilian

Thoughts on higher hfe germ fuzz faces.

Spot on! Higher HFE on Q2 also makes the germanium FF clean up more gradually and don’t get that glassy cleans (and I personally prefer the more gradual cleanup)

Yeah, they are a bit taller than the plastic ones! Guess I’ll have to build one for myself to check the sound (but I guess it will sound just like the regular ones)

    Zeugma (Zonk Machine MKI)

Your blog Is a really awesome resource! One thing that is cool to add (and is really important on how the Zonk will be voiced) is the internal capacitando of the transistors used. After more than 30 Zonk Builds I have concluded that, specially for q1, the selection isn’t really paint by numbers...

Madbean Nom Nom - Phase 90

Looks great, very clean build! And I gotta tell you, the build using just carbon film resistors gave me REALLY nostalgic vibes, from when pedal building was based on etching your own PCBs, you could buy thru hole J201 for cents. Cool times!
