LaceSensor's new pedal Co. Gigahearts FX

I spent a pleasant hour playing with the multi feedback LPF in LTspice. Wrong tool for my current projects, but definitely looks cool and useful for many other things. I love revisiting old cookbook circuits in any case!

LaceSensor's new pedal Co. Gigahearts FX

That's super interesting to me, as Sallen-Key resonant LPFs have been as big part of my open source DIY EQ pedal and onboard bass preamp builds for the last decade or so. Off to some Spice modeling I go! ;) And best of luck with your new enterprise.

Text not showing up on jlc gerber viewer, possibly font?

Yep, and if you have a high resolution raster graphics for a background he will often even take that as-is. He also provides a pre-production digital proof before printing.

    What's in the mailbox? 📬 📦

Various breakout boards for the dual reverse taper pots with switches a friend sent me a bunch of: The dual pots have two different functions in my preamps (resonance or frequency), so now I can mix and match switching functions between bypass or resonance boosting as well. OSHpark is great...

Need help finding a bass preamp to build

My open source bass preamp design on its own is mostly about squeaky clean, with a more or less Alembic based resonant LPF section, but it's also possible to pull Wal style grit out of it. Where it really shines is in smoothing out and fine tuning grit or fizz from other pedals or from...

    What’s on *YOUR* workbench?

I actually moved on from my very early fEARful 12/6 build partly because without a tweeter it was a little too wooly for my frequent jazz gigs on electric upright. But you can make the 12/6 or 15/6 more classically rock friendly by leaving off the LPF crossover section on the woofer, or just...

    What’s on *YOUR* workbench?

Cool! I've built several 606 cabs over the years, and have always enjoyed them. But eventually I got hooked into the fEARful thing, and also a few of my own designs with $$$ neo drivers.

Yet another EQ pedal redone, I think this is v3 or v4 in this box: Now specifically tuned for my Breedlove electric-acoustic guitar, which has a bare bones Fishman pre built in.

How often does your pedal idea NOT work?

Just about every time I try to build to someone else's physical format spec. ;)

Testing various mixing schemes for this stereo pickup breakout/EQ box for my Gold Tone Dojo: The magnetic pickup send goes to a second box with an HPF, PEQ, and resonant LPF section and returns to this pedal for blending. The piezo resonator pickup just gets a resonant LPF, it’s not really...

    Pedalboard amps

I have a Traynor SB200H in a DIY 110 "airhead" cab and it's a fantastic 25 lb. solution for grab and go bass jams. The head by itself only weighs 2 lbs/ or so. Planning on doing a powered 8 + horn cab for my acoustic guitar soon as well, probably using either a 200 or 300 watt ICEpower module...

    Show your Rig

Yeah, I've hung out with Duke on several occasions at various Talkbass get-togethers and it's always been a great time. I've had that cab since 2011 and it's just a joy to play through.

Affinity Software - October 2025 Announcement

Nope, it seems to run fine with my wi-fi turned off off after it's done the online licensing check once. Not sure how often that check will occur yet though. Same here. I bought Affinity Photo for my Pad when it was something like ten bucks, but never bothered to grab the discounted or...

    What’s on *YOUR* workbench?

J201 Borbely Follower buffer I built several years ago, getting a trial for the piezo side in a pickup splitter box for my Gold Tone Dojo: Plan is to do a whole pedalboard for the Dojo, with parallel signal paths and then a 1590A mixer pedal to sum to mono when desired.

That one concert (tour) you missed and would sacrifice something valuable for today to have been there.

Maybe Woodstock...maybe, although I saw many of those bands eventually anyway. My stepbrother got married in VT on that Saturday and I actually drove right past the Bethel exit on the New York State Thruway that Monday morning, probably just about when Jimi Hendrix was wrapping up.

    What’s on *YOUR* workbench?

Working up a model for the last two magnetic pickup modules for my new Dojo (banjo dobro hybrid) pedal, then on to the much simpler piezo half: Fully parametric mids for the mag side, 62-4kHz (shown at mid position). Resonant LPF sweeps ~1k-8.2kHz, and then variable HPF and Baxandall bass...
