    Sushibox Nobelium

Been going down the rabbit hole with the pcbs on their website, just wow! Not sure how I feel about the high gain stuff but the King Nothing PCB caught my eye as well. Your design with the woodblock print looks fantastic btw

    Why Fjord, Why?

Now that you mention it how would someone go about making something like this at home? I imagine you could adhere the copper plate to something translucent then laser-engrave up to a certain depth, but that’s way beyond my skill set atm

I might actually be wrong on this but I THINK as long as your potentiometers, jacks, switches etc are making metal-on-metal contact with the aluminum, like just scrape the paint around the drilled holes, you should be good to keep all that shielding tape off

Your best and worst pedal hot takes? 🔥

I started to photoshop this but it got a little… dark. Carry on! 🤗

Your best and worst pedal hot takes? 🔥

Start gooping portions of the boards you send out with pre-soldered “mojo” and maybe they’ll get off your back. Hit them with “outer-order harmonics” and “pre-gain texture-curvature” and see if you can beat them to death with their own techno-babble

Your best and worst pedal hot takes? 🔥

Not only do I disagree, but I’ll do you one worse. I think the implementation of most clean blends for bass absolutely suck. You should only really be blending in the low end of the clean signal, not the entire thing. Darkglass X and Damnation MBD did it right. If bass were my primary instrument...

I'm completely new to pedal building and small electronics in general, any recommendations on where to start?

Acapulco Gold This was the first build I made and between the low-parts count, step-by-step guide, and how good I think this pedal sounds I would definitely start here all over again He also goes into each component and how it works, potential modifications etc. really valuable stuff when...

How do you feel about aluminum necks?

Robot Graves Industries I don’t have any first hand experience with them but the builder mentioned in an interview that he is ALWAYS open to custom work, whether or not it is cost effective for the client is up to them. The price also seems about right and he was coached directly by one of the...

    Best projects for doom metal?

The newest variation of the DA120 co-designed by Nick from Dunwich is gonna be this one from GCI N.E.W. Apostle I haven’t built it myself but the schematic piqued my interest. The boards have been OOS for a while but there’s a verified Vero layout floating around EDIT: it’s back in stock!!! :D

    Best projects for doom metal?

Lm386 builds are my jam! It’s got a distinct sound but here’s a few examples of the chip in action: The Acapulco gold is by far the easiest variant to make but the Sonic Titan is a close second and is a smaller-part build as well EDIT: I almost forgot my favorite, this is a 1-knob variant of...

Fat General + Skeptical Buffer implementation question

I love my Fat General Compressor so much I'm building a second "always on" version. However, I noticed that the Skeptical/Eunuch buffer has those 3 "sweetener" toggle switches and it seems like something I could easily combine into the fat general.... if I knew how I have no problem with the...
