One of my earliest builds was the byoc 1590a version of this circuit. It's a great fuzz, mine got dethroned pretty quickly but it's surprisingly decent on bass.

I've avoided uv leds in most of my c2ce builds for this very reason. Pink, orange and yellow all look pretty excellent to me. I did use them in my Tungsten recently and it's definitely bright enough to see in a well lit room but I bet stage lights would outshine it...
