Is Q1 base biased  too high? It looks like Q1 is fully conducting (on). This would indicate too high of voltage on the base. this will give very asymmetrical clipping. What kind of clipping is desired? For symmetrical shouldn't the collector be at ~4.5 - 5 volts? But the pedal sounds good...

Correct. A shielded cable  inside a piece of gear only needs the shield connected at one end. Connecting both ends can create a ground loop which is a source of noise. Do not confuse this with external guitar/instrument cables which do need the shield connected at both ends.

Are you  sure the base of 2N2222A #2 is a negative voltage? This seriously has me puzzled. :unsure:

If you think this probe might ever be used in a tube amp I'd recommend using a 1kv (or higher) rated cap.

Verify what kind of diode is D1? Check voltage drop on it. Verify the type of diode installed at D1. Check the voltage across it.

What @Nostradoomus said but I break the bent tab off and use the notched washer under the outside nut.

Absolutely correct, but they interact with each other  internal to the pedal, amp etc... externally they should be kept seperated. This is an important point I did not think to include before, I am glad it has been brought up. To clarify I am only talking about simple guitar-pedal-amp signal...

Thanks!!! Tayda has the correct ones in stock? I gave up on them. These do look good without any knobs which is a good thing because I could not find knobs ANYWHERE to fit. These slider handles are thicker than Tayda's so slots need to be a bit wider. The template I linked to worked great...
