I think you can technically use most other transistors. I think they are just for input and output buffers so even like a 2N5088 would work. Except the pinouts are quite different so would have to bend the legs.

Well that is a clever workaround. Out of curiosity why do you think no one has done a DIY PCB of a "tone wicker" variant? Maybe not really worth it? I mean its not the best Muff mod but I would still think there would be a market for it. Unless there is something else I'm missing.

Thanks. The tone bypass is a feature on the new Muffin's as well. Just not the "wicker". Which, Im still honestly not sure what its doing but I think its removing a set of caps with the 3PDT switch.

I really think this version of the Muff needs a DIY PCB version. Imo its enough to warrant a board. Only version I found is this older stripboard one. It works but only issue is its noisy as hell. Can't dime the volume or sustain or it squeals like a banshee. I think having all the offboard...

Its a great sounding Muff but its not an op amp like these other ones in this thread. So there is tonal difference as far as muffs go. As far as stacking up to other Muffs overall, imo the Mayonnaise/Kewpie is one of the best.

Update: I finally got a legit TL062 and it made quite a difference. Seems a bit "warmer" and got more of that vibe "throb" going on. Definitely recommend sticking with the BOM and using a 62.
