    Wah heel bypass Idea

If you want to make the 555 based board work, do this. Leave out the red-X components. Wire the reed switch as the green lines between pins 3 and 8 of the 555 IC socket. BUT, polarity is backwards, so, do not connect anything to "IN" on the module; Connect the input jack to the input of the wah...

    Wah heel bypass Idea

This will all work but need an alternative programming of the ATtiny to use a latching switch instead of momentary switch. My code has this as an option if you want to try your hand at programming. I strongly suggest doing so because the ability to program opens up infinite possibilities... My...

    Relay Bypass Module Questions

10k for the LED is a guess. LEDs vary so much that you should always test yours for desired brightness and hand-choose a resistance. (EDIT: I'm old and still have LEDs from the '80s. Those need 20mA. New high brightness LEDs seem to turn on if I wave them around a power supply and are a...

    Relay Bypass Module Questions

LEDs will turn off. Input signal is connected to both effects and both effects will be active at all times and sending output to the relay board. The relay board will select one of the two outputs.

    Relay Bypass Module Questions

Here it is with the intelligent relay bypass module. Of course, if ordering something, use the DPDT version. This is only if you already have these in hand. I used a schotkey diode to make sure LED A goes fully off.

    Relay Bypass Module Questions

Here it is with the DPDT module instead of the intelligent relay bypass module.

And, of course, the DPDT module can do this, too. Either one will work, if bypass is not needed. Neither will work if bypass is needed, since that is three separate states. The other switch in the relay could be used to make the LED circuit simpler (no extra diodes needed) if using the DPDT module.

    Relay Bypass Module Questions

You might need a 2nd 1n914 to make sure LED A does not remain on (dimmly) when it is supposed to be off. Like this. And those can be 1n4148 or 1n4001 or what ever. They are not important values. Might not need the second, newly added diode if the first one is a shotkey.

    Relay Bypass Module Questions

Here's a quick drawing. Assuming you do not need bypass, you can use one PedalPCB intelligent relay bypass module like this... Effects A and B both have the inputs tied together and come from the input of your pedal. Pedal A output goes to "Jack In." Pedal B output goes to "Out." "In" is not...

    Muffler: "Barn Owl Noise Gate"

I'm sure folks know this but, if you play with any substantial gain, a key'd noise gate is needed so the gate can be after the gain but key'd on the raw guitar input. This particular build of the Muffler, however, is really nice. I should learn how to do graphics like this. Mine are all two tone...

    TPA3118 60W Power Amp Module

Momentary, normally open. All my versions have a soft-touch enable circuit of some sort using discrete components or an ATtiny. But, I should add that the circuit could be simplified to just use a latching switch connected directly to the mute pin on the power amp. I was learning how to make...

    TPA3118 60W Power Amp Module

Here's mine next to one from the Ali express. It's obviously pointless to build versus buy, but, ... This is what a DIY board looks like. Other than the chip, mine is all through-hole and is a slightly larger board. All the holes for wires are in the exact same spot as the official board so they...

    TPA3118 60W Power Amp Module

I ordered more TPA3118 module boards from PCBWay. I only did this in case the official boards ever became obsolete so I can make them myself. Here's video of flowing the solder paste to mount a TPA3118 using a hot plate. Solder paste is applied to the heat-sink pad and all the finger pads...

    PCB Track Width

FYI, here's video of flowing the solder paste on the board I show above to mount a TPA3118 using a hot plate. Solder paste is applied to the heat-sink pad and all the finger pads sparingly. Then the TPA3118 is dropped onto the board with tweezers. Then the board is set onto the hot plate until...

    TPA3118 60W Power Amp Module

I just ordered 10 (that I don't need) and they are also all real.

    ATTINY Backup & Restore

Yes, if the fuse to lock the code is not set. When that is set, there is no way. IF the fuse is not set, then avrdude can read it out in binary.

How does impedence work in long signal chains ?

Your guitar cable is already long and is in the 10k-ish impedance range or so. Using true bypass on your board isn't making it that much longer. There is no resistance added. If you can tell the signal is darker, then it's because there is too much capacitance to ground on the signal somewhere...

    Top Five '24

My favorites to build are what I've ended up with as the core of my board: Prince of Tone; AMT M2; Muzzle; Spark Boost; FV-1 Reverb; TPA3118 Power amp. Prince of Tone is very good boost without to much mid range. Great at pushing a clean channel into breakup or pushing a drive channel into...

op amp bias voltage divider - resistor values?

An op amp is shown buffering Vref and not using it. But the op amp is going to be doing something else later... Temporary schematic. I don't understand your low impedance comment. Of course it's low impedance. It would pass through a 1M resistor at each point it is used for bias. I drew this in...
